timeslips..

But most importantly, dont kill yourself and friend trying to *prove* something to people on a bulletin board :/ Its not really that important. Your car may be fast, and there's definately a faster maxima than your jetta... and there is a faster jetta than that maxima, and so on.. rinse, repeat....

I guess he realized that he wore out his welcome here. He came in here with the intent of stirring up trouble and with the amount of attention that this thread got, I would say that he did just that. Don't worry.. he'll be back...

Well Sprint, you know as well as I do that their are VWs out there running a pretty number. I have spent may hours on VWVortex to learn what there is out there and see what can be done with my other car. It is so much cheaper to mod VWs vs. a max.

I don't think he wanted to cause too much trouble, but he did want to slap us in the face. And any bar I have been in, when you slap a guy in the face, you are going to get a fight.

I would like to see what happens when this guy meets up agains a modded max (NA of course). we all know that you guys puching the button and the SC crowd will own this little guy ritously.

Guess we will see....

My only concern is that the video didn't appear to be true to description. It looked as if a Maxima was racing a Hyundai Excel (1989). I have no doubt that with his mods that he would be able to beat a stock 2k2 Maxima pretty bad, but not like it was standing still. Something is a miss.

As far as 1.8T stopping his posting here, I say everyone is welcome. He didn't curse and was very well manored and whether he lied or not, this thread has obviously been very entertaining for alot of people including myself.

Nobody answered my question......How come you cannot hear the Maxima's engine, but you can hear the BOV from 50 feet ahead????

da da da.
I TOLD YOU WE THINK ALIKE! I'm not gay-bashing, but Jettas are chick cars. I give full props to fast cars, but I also recognize a chick car for what it is.

Look at the video, you can see 1.8T at the start of the race. You decide .

In the video, it looks like the Maxima didn't even speed up for the "race".

Dude I sense you are a nice guy, not to offend you, but you come to a Maxima forum to tell us you run a Maxima, and you hope ppl here will like your post? When you had that run with 2k2 auto, you had your chip and the downpipe, which can be good for at least another 70hp.

Our cars are not in the same category. Why dont you race turboed Civics and Integras, that'd be more fair!

Just found this thread, but I recently raced a 150hp Jetta on the interstate from 60-130 and 70-125. Well my AUTO Maxima (now with stock muffler, 2.5inch b-pipe and K&N filter) and the Jetta were dead-even. My auto has no top end compared to similar horsepowered cars (friend's 95 chipped M3 5spd & another friend's new 02 330ci 5spd) with manual transmissions. After I shift to third at~74, they slowly pull away even if it I was ahead of them from 0-74! The Jetta was heavily modded though with exhaust, chip, clutch, bypass-valve, short-shifter, suspension, 17" wheels, and other things. He was yelling his mods to me out the window at over 100mph (He seemed gay ). Anyway, the race in question, even with a video, I call B.S. Come and race me off nitrous and we'll see who's really faster.

IM back.
Ok i already have said that the nitrous is strictly for track. Its not in my car right now or for a while actually. But i alreaduy said that In the first race he said oh **** because papers flew out the window u can hear them! So he backed off and i started walking. THen the second one he was on it the whole time! He was leaving me then turbo spooled and i came back but far. The reason u cant hear the maxima engine well first its stock its not loud really and when the camera is close to the windshield u dont hear whats in front of the windshield. Well i think oi found someone to race. He lives in my area works at a car place ride looks hott 2k2 exhaust is all i can tell his tires are bald though so im gonna set it up but i dont know what he has though.

Im really not very scared at all. I can accept a loss! But i dont go down without fights so. If u were a 14 sec then why would u bother with 13 sec cars? When u already know the outcome?Thats like a 10 sec car doesnt mess with a 9 sec car! So what would be the point?

i can't believe you guys are arguing with a guy who is proud of his jetta.

dont you guys know that jetta drivers are mostly women (statistical FACT).

jettas are marketed towards women...much like how the Altima/Maxima is marketted as being fast.

let's end this discussion...

NOOOO!!! I like reading this thread.

Well, if his jetta is as fast as he claims (which it might be), we should feel kinda bad, a "chick car" that is beating us. Sure our car is better overall but then again, the chick car beat us.

auto: not in charge of gear changes

manual: in charge of gear shifts, 2 extra speeds compared to the auto, better gearing, runs low 14s stock, just plain deadly.

So, if i put a buttload of money into a festiva and beat a maxima, you'd be interested in reading about it?

a jetta is a POS, by most standards. electrical problems, crappy resale (well, not compared to nissans), horrible interior design, the target base of the car, etc.

Hell, I beat a Maxima in my CRX... i wouldn't expect anyone to ring a bell and sound any alarms. it's a POS CRX. likewise, a pos jetta beat an auto maxima. give him his girl scouts badge of Street Racing Competition and move on.

interior quality, build quality AND handling are way above par than that of the Maxima... Jetta is not some POS

and the 1.8T engine is sweet to have its so easy to mod

I dont see why everyone is trippin about him beating a 2k2 auto

and the Jetta a chick car? hehe yea... kinda but I've seen some mean fixed up Jettas before not too girly lookin

My buddy thought so too. Then a year later stuff literally is falling off his car. Plastic parts are no longer secure and rattles more than a domestic. He has a roof rack that keeps "shedding" plastic coverings. His alarm and lights dont always function correctly and VW is "stumped", and his power locks just stop working.

and the 1.8T engine is sweet to have its so easy to mod
Agreed. Lots of options available. Does not take much to really output some juice. Seen any of those Golf projects? Wow!

I dont see why everyone is trippin about him beating a 2k2 auto
Dunno? But I dont think he did it w/o some boost modifications personally. I dont have facts, just my .02.

The car is quick, turbos will do that for ya, but I beat my friends stock with my 2K1. I personally think there was more enhanced than stated. No biggie. Just state the facts as they are, I.E. what is really in your car. No condemnation. Motor heading is motor heading. Its not like we are talking rice here. LOL.

It's not the fact that he beat the Max, it's the fact that when they raced it was as if the VW was going 100 and the Max was going 50. It should have been a slow walk away.

actually, i'm just mouthing off cause street racing is stupid and also how he's/she's posting this thread to start some poop. This thread is just an ego boosting for his/her low self-esteem and his/her questionable car purchase. He/she, needed some validity on why he choose to purchase an incredibly girly car when the GTI is a far better chassis/vehicle to work with...and is nearly half as girly as the Jetta...nearly.

It goes like this, einstein here thinks his/her car is pretty feminine, but likes it a lot. to somehow boost his/her masculinity and self-worth, posts a thread about beating a vehicle known to be a pretty quick sedan.

A 222 HP 5-spd Max is faster than a 255 HP auto Max...? Going by Road and Track numbers for the same engine and extrapolating, I thought the 222's ran about 7.0 0-60, and the '03 auto's come in about that too...?
