Why is a B-pipe called a B-pipe?

So why is a B-pipe called a B-pipe, and a Y-pipe called a Y-pipe?
Anyone got the final word on these products? are they out for sale yet for 2k2 maximas? If so, where can I get them? thanks

ypipe, is in the shape of a Y, actually more like an F, maxima people are the only ones that refer the the downpipe as a Ypipe, most people with similar downpipes refer to it as F pipes, take a look at a YPipe and u will understand why its called ypipe or fpipe. BPipe is basically the midpipe, between cat and muffler, long sorta twisty pipe, but it beats the hell outta me why its called a BPipe, its not even shaped like a B/b

I think it has to do with where it is in the exhaust chain. It is the second link. in the chain or b pipe. Kinda like you have the A-pillar at the front window, and the B-pillar between the doors, and C-pillar in back. So, it goes, Y-pipe (A. but called y or f because of shape), Cat and B-pipe, then muffler and tips or C.

I think.
