HELP - car won't start :-(
HELP - car won't start :-(
i was messing around w/ my amp, now my car won't start. i also unplugged the stereo, but plugged in back in.
now my car won't start. starter keeps trying but my engine won't turn over and start.
i noticed that my amp's little green light is also off, even though i have the stereo turned on. i get no sound.
everything else seems to be working (electronically). i've checked all the fused inside the car and inside the engine bay by the battery.
what am i missing?!?!?!?

Check the fusible links(they look like fuses only way bigger and squarer). There also might be one right off the battery positive terminal. Disconnect the amp wiring from the battery terminal and disconnect the "remote" wire from the amp (Make sure it doesn't touch anything(i.e isolate it with electrical tape). I've seen bunch of times when the car's electrical system gets back-fed through a "turn-on" wire on the amp

Just went and looked at my car:
Fisible links are in the electrical center on the right of the battery if you're looking at the front of your car. Links are further away in the box (closer to the firewall) and fuses are closer to the headlight. There's also a master link under the red cover on the battery.

Get your **** straight.
A) Yur car has fusible links... they are just big fuses, they are almost square and have a clear window on the top... check them... all the major systems are on fusible links- not fuses
B) Disconnect your amp from the battery!!!
C) If you have no idea what you're doing - find somebody who does before you fry your ECU or something...

,of course , but that's another story). Just that finding and amp power wire is usually pretty straightforward... at any rate did you try disconnecting the "power on" lead on the amp ? And also checking the main (like 100 Amp ) fuse right under the red cover on the battery.I'm gonna go look at the car see what else can I think of

I would re-check all the engine control or injection related fuses and in both centers with a meter... blown fuses sometimes are not that visible. also check the theft/security/horn stuff since it might affect the immobilizer.
I would chek to see if you can hear the fuel pump running inside the tank(under the rear seat bench) with the ignition turned on (it should make whirling sound as you trun the ignition switch from off to on(not start).
See if you can hear injectors tick as somebody tries to crank the car...
Jayson(max'n out) had a similar problem - ask him what he found... if you can get ahold of him:

No offense taken.. I usually take things lightly anyways. I ended up calling my friend and coudn't figure anything out. I've called into work saying I won't be able to make it because of car troubles.
As for the car, I've pretty much checked everything you mentioned. The amp and stereo have been disconnected. I didn't check the security, but I did check everything else. Fuel pump can be heard, and the injectors 'seem' to be working, but I'll be verifying that tomorrow.
For everyone who added they're input, THANKS ! ! ! It's not only the solution that counts, 'cuz I ALWAYS appreciate input from people taking their time to help another out.

did u try to jumped the car?? cuz it happened sometime with the bad battery! if it doesn't work, it might have to do with ur alarm system or keyless entry system were messed up! Try disconnect the NEGATIVE battery, then put it back on and try to start it again! ur amp might connect to the 12V 10A outlet, it doesn't have anything to do with the battery! so dont worry about ur amp!

i had the same problem before, i had heater and my system blast before i even started my car (stupid me)
i just replaced the fuse.. it's a square looking plastic thingy with 2 copper that stick out (thats how fuse look like) i just replaced that.. and my car started again..
but again.. if your amps drained your battery you might try to jump start it or just replace your battery.. dont mess around if you dont know wut you doing...

Yeah, I know what a fuse looks like...
It's not any of the fuses and regarding the battery, I COULD be wrong, but it tries to crank over too strong for me to think the battery is weak. I can't be for sure, but I guess it would warrant a try. The tow truck's coming right now, so I'll have to investigate it more when I get it to the shop.
