Nice vids of the injen CAI. Have any problems with it yet? (ex. cel light, rough idle, etc.)

PoLo: Can you keep me updated on the progress of the injen cai? I'm still trying to figure out what kind of intake to purchase so....How are your project headlights coming along? I would like some pics of the finish product.

will do...i'll update again next week.
as far as project headlights, i've blacked out the surround of the headlights..i'm still deciding whether i should go flat black or glossy black. then again, it might not even go at all, being my car is grey lustre.
it dont' matter though...this is an extra headlight i have laying around, so it's stricly testing purposes only. we'll see what i decide on. i'll mount htis and see how it looks on the car.

PoLo: Thanx. That will be appreciated if you could do that for me. Let me know how the blacked out headlights come out when your done. Also (sorry to switch the topic) was it easy to replace/rewire the foglight bulbs with aftermarket piaa bulbs? The reason why i ask is because the first mod i'm gonna do is swap out some of the stock bulbs out with piaa bulbs.

Its amazing how LOUD and NICE it sounds at the same time. I rarely hear my intake going WOT throttle though...because when you are paying $1.60 a Gallon for Premium gas you will tend think twice before you press too hard on the pedal.

polo... i would be careful if you have the polished injen cai cause my check engine light went off in 5 days and I took apart the piping and it looked like this:

just be careful

Hey Larry is that oil in your intake? Did you back to stock?

I had to clean it with some stuff and then reinstall the whole thing and disconnected the battery. I've been driving on it for 3 days.. put 50 miles on it... took it off again to see what's wrong and it seems a little better.

I emailed injen and they told me it has to do with some kind of polishing finish and it "won't harm to engine"

Larrio: Whats that build up in your intake pipe? Has the problem since been resolved? This is why i'm still researching on air intakes for my maxima.

Well I figured out that those long scratches are part of the pipe.. but the black crap is like dust and injen claims that it is the polishing finish on the pipe.

I actually blame it on two things. The oxygen sensor probably didn't plug up tightly enough, so i'm planning to buy some type of silicone to seal it up more properly and then hoping to get a new filter cause the injen one looks flimsy.

Let us know how it fleshes out. I'm real interested since my polished CAI should be coming to me, like, real soon.

Well I just took it apart today after about 50 miles and the pipe is NOT dirty anymore... but when I took a clean white towel and wiped the inside of the pipe, there is enough of this leftover "polish" dust or whatever to get the towel black. Now like I said before, Injen has emailed me to say that this is not harmful to the engine and you can't see the polish by the naked eye until you wipe your finger or a towel along the inside of the pipe right after the air filter. After taking the whole thing apart, I see that this "polish" thing that wipes off black is only in the first section of the piping, so what Injen is saying is true... because anything AFTER the MAF section is perfectly clean: no scratches, no black dust, therefore NO polish residue.

Larrio: Would it be a good idea to wipe of the excess polish before installing the injen cai to the car?

i think it would be I have a feeling that it is impossible to wipe off all the polish. I will take apart the injen cai again after another five days to see the results of the piping.

If I was you, I would thoroughly wipe down the inside of the piping right after the intake and give it a day to completely dry out before installing it onto the car

believe it or not, that is the only mod i have. no exhaust, y-pipe, cat, nothing. just the intake and some cold weather. drive it like normal and it makes no noise. give it some power and it begins to rumble.
also, does anyone notice that at half throttle, the injen makes a hissing noise, almost like a turbo spooling or a blow off valve. some people hav mentioned that to me. i just say it's the heater

yea.. my accord friend asked what the heck is that hissing sound. It's almost like a mini-me wannabe turbo. The weird thing that I noticed is that on my auto, the injen seems to be getting more and more unoticeable noise wise... I can't hear it anymore when I floor it.

Any updates to the black streaks in the polish Injen tube problem? Does this only happen on the polished and not the colored units? Thanks in advance.

i found out from another member with a polished piping that it looked like that when he opened it and took it out of the box. Injen claims that it is the polishing dust leftover from their piping. I would recommened running hot water through only the front piping and wiping it done good and dry before installing.

I believe that we might be getting used to the sound.. or maybe not.

I noticed the same thing after about 500 miles or so. I can't tell if I'm just more used to it, or if the intake calms down after the CPU adjusts itself. The power seems to be there though. Overall, I'm very happy with the intake. I can't wait until there's a legitimate Y-pipe for the 2K2's though. That should make a huge difference.
