Adding tweeters to BOSE?????

I was wondering if it is possible to add a set of tweeters to the BOSE system. Can you tap into the existing tweeter wires and then worry about where to run them? i just wanna know if it is even possible. a friend of mine wants to try this in his 2k, and i didnt know if it would work or not so i figured hell it never hurts to ask.
thanks in advance!

Re: Adding tweeters to BOSE?????

Im sure you it can be done. Im thinking of changing my front tweeters out for some JL Audio tweeters. Is he going to put these in the rear? if so where exactly.

if you read in the audio section, they say the tweets are 4 ohm.. so, replacing them with 4 ohm drivers has no effect on the bose or stock system other than better quality highs.

Just be prepaired to have a hot glue gun on hand to mount the new tweeters. It's very tight behind the pillar and you'll have to do a little shaving.

Adding front tweeters is a piece of cake. Pop the A-pillar off and you're set.

Adding rear tweeters is pointless. It will throw your stereo imaging off, as high frequenices are supposed to come from the front of the car. Most competition cars don't even use rear speakers, let alone tweeters.

If they are that easy then I assume that the front door speakers are not that hard to replace as well?!?!?!

i did

i tapped tweeters to the front stock tweeters and added 2 more to the rear door speakers for a total of 6 and the result is a wonderful "cluster Fu#K" of sweet sound. i cant believe i didnt do it sooner, if i let you hear my setup you will do it too. btw i got 2 10" subs in the rear too.

Re: Adding tweeters to BOSE?????

I'm planning on getting some tweeters also. One more question...

Does the depth of the tweeter really matter. I would assume it does.

The one's I'm lookin at is http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...nfo&i=108K105T ...and the "flush mount depth" is 1-3/16". Is this too wide to fit flush behind the pillar?

My tweeters are the Diamond Audio Silk's which are 1" in depth. 1 1/4 is pushing it.

Thx Virus!

So I guess 1" depth would probably be most to go w/out taking a chance, huh?

Good info...

You know, most of these posts have just said "just pull out the a-pillar and you're set"

Anyone got a good write-up with pics? (Or know where one is?)

ARFF?

you have to very carefully pry from the top trying not to deform the plastic or headliner. It does just pop out.... well out and up.. or something like that.

be sure to do the anti-rattle foam while youre in there.
