that is a VERY good price. USUALLY prices are about $150-$200. somtimes even upwards of $300 (i was quoted $400 by a local shop). but to be perfectly honest, i recommend doing it yourself. it isnt very difficult, just time consuming. you'll learn a lot and you'll save some cash.

find a friend who has done it before to give you a helping hand.

i did it for $70. but u can ask for cheaper!! bring it to California Tint and alaram in Rosemead Blvd and Mission. Talk to Peter and Tell him Jeffery with white maxima and black altima send u and he will take care of u. REMEMBER TELL HIM TO INSTALL THE RUBBER TUBE ON THE FACTORY SPRINGS.
If u are coming from Arcadia, take 10W and exit at Rosemead towards Montery Park it's on ur left side when right after u pass Mission. Across Rosmead High School!!

Hope this helps!

I concur with Newman...
unless of course you are happy with a DIY type of lifestyle . I did my spring install last weekend and I am a total rookie. It DID take all day, but nothing quite as satisfying as doing a job with you own hands I sez. Either way, from what I understand that $90 figure is quite low. Good luck!

Yes, If you do not wrap them, they will squeak.

So wrap them with the the stock wrap, or buy some after market wrap that covers more of the spring?

yes,
when you take off the springs you will understand how this works. The wrap off the OEM spring should still work.

D.I.Y.

Get a friend or two, and do it yourself. Me, my cousin, and a friend of mine installed two sets of springs (a Civic SI and an Eclipse) in less than four hours a couple of weeks ago. None of us had ever done it before, but now that we've done two cars, we could do a car in an hour, working together. My cousin was basically the "instruction guy". He was telling us, step-by-step what size sockets we would need, and telling us what to do. Me and my other friend were doing the labor. Like I said, after seeing some of the price quotes on here, and then seeing how easy it is to DIY, we're thinking about opening a "spring installation" business. LOL!!! It's a lot easier than you think. I'm waiting for my Maxspeeds to come in now!

D.I.Y is easy enough on this for those with the inclination, driveway space, the proper tools, and most importantly time. In my example I had to borrow a friends house and a good amount of tools. It isn't for everyone, but the thing that makes the Maxima community so great is the willingness everyone has to help out. I for one do not wish to hate on those that feel more comfortable taking their rides to a pro - not that that is being done here, it just fits this thread quite well

The wrap that is being dicussed is like a hard, flexible plastic that covers the bottom coil-and-a-half to prevent the spring from rubbbing against the metal on the coil. Several posts I have seen wrap new heavy duty vinyl tubing from Lowes or Home Depot instead of reusing the old. I just used the old ones as they were still in basically good shape.
