Removing middle air vents

I have a rattle between the clock and top part of the middle air vents. What is the easiest way to remove the middle air vents safely?

Just grab the vents and pull out and slightly upwards.

Just grab the vents with my fingers and pull? How do you grip on?

Just grab the inside of the bottom of the vents.

Wrap a flat screwdriver in a shop towel and (carefully!) pry upwards btwn the stereo and the vent. Alternate prying btwn left and right a little. It shouldn't take much to loosen.

I got this same cracking noise as well. What is the fix...do we just put some padding in between the vent and the dash? Just curious.

I did that and it came back. At this point the best bet is to open it up yourself and pad it up.

Jam a crowbar way down it's throat then twist real hard and yank it all out. If you don't hear the sound of ripping plastic then you need to repeat the procedure.

Go to my homepage and then the dash removal pdf. It doesn't give you great instructions on how to get it out, but does show what is holding it there.
