Ok - it's been approx. 6 hours since my last idiot post....yep: time for another!


Any 2k2 6sp'drs out there noticing a lack of BRAKE PRESSURE in the pedal after a few hours of sitting (esp. overnight)??????

I'm sure the fluid is just draining slightly from the calipers - but quite frequently I park on an incline/decline, and I have to really kick that pedal to get the brakes to respond, b-4 starting the engine.
Gets a little un-nervy when you roll a little farther fwd or back than you expected to!

Just curious to see if anyone else has this problem, AND if it's indicative of a problem with the brakes.

errr, something is amiss in your master cylinder. You should hear a *clank* when the ABS does its purge, but no loss in pedal feel.

 

Brakes as a rule do not drain from standing. Aside from the caliper being lower than the master cylinder. As much we all hate going to the dealer, I would definitely take it down to them because this is a safety issue.

 

Based on my experience as a brake technician, it sounds like the vaccuum in your master cylinder is failing due to any number of related components. It is a HUGE safety issue, which you should stress to the service manager. Normally, the entire master cylinder will be replaced.
