Checking Tranny Fluid

Checking Tranny Fluid
Is the best way to check tranny fluid to have it warmed up by driving several miles and then just leave it idling while you pull the stick and wipe and re-check? Mine seemed a little low after a tranny flush by Midas and a week later my 2nd to 3rd shift seems to have the TSB mentioned problem of a drawn out shift that feels like a slip. My 1-2 shift is quick and you barely notice it, then 2-3 is drawn out and does a slight bump into gear, and 3-4 is barely noticeable again. I do have the TCM module upgrade (supposedly). Oh, this is a 2000 SE Auto with only tint, K&N, FSTB, and DunlopSPA2.

the most accurate way to check is when the trans has had time to warm up and the dipstick is removed with the car idling and on flat ground. if you checked it like this and its low then id add some.

Re: Checking Tranny Fluid
ok...slipping means....when its about to shift and it doesnt, instead, it took a long noticible time During this time....u will feel powerless, watch the rpm goes up but nothing happens to the wheel.
ur case, I assume it is the new fluid working properly. the slightly bump u feel should be the gear engaging. It now shifts faster and more noticible....similar to vb mod.
to check ur fluid level...drive around for 10 minutes and make sure ur tranny is fully warmed up. u can touch the tranny pan and see if it is hot....then put her on the flat ground and left the shifter at P....check the dipstick. U dont want too much or it will give the tranny a lot of work.
mine is within the operational range of the hot level. too much ATF u will see foams.
