Emergency Handle Wobble

I know this was mentioned a while back but I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Anyway, I go to get into my car last night and realize that my Emergency Brake handle is totally loose. I can pull it up 1/4 of the way, before I feel any tension, before that it's totally loose and wobbles around.

Any idea what happended?

Thanks,
Tom

Here's my experience with this issue. Do you normally pull up the Ebrake all the way (meaning you stop when the handle doesn't go up anymore)? If you do, then you've basically made the brakes loose. I think it would be better, in the future, if you lift up only half-way, which is plenty to keep the car from rolling, even on a steep hill. Again, this is my experience/opinion, but I don't know any technical explanation to really say for sure that that's the cause. I'm sure some of the members here will know more precisely what caused it.

Yeah, the car was made like that. I was the one that originally reported the problem.
