Bridgestone Potenza RE040 in 225/50/17
The Bridgestone NA web site shows that the RE040 is now available in the 225/50/17 size. Anyone know about these tires? Are they ok in the snow, the rain, or just dry weather. I also believe these may be the OEM tire for the 350Z front wheels. Any information is welcome.

After doing a little research, I found that they do not have a lot of tread wear to them and that the overall performance was not up to par with others in the same catagory. From what I read, they are just blowtenzas. If you are spending around 170+ on a tire, you should go with the pilot sport a/s.

While true that these dont appear to be
highly-rated tires, the fitting of this tire size to the Z-car will no doubt inspire several other tire manufacturers to support the 225/50/17 size, and that's good for the rest of us...

i have had these tires for sometime now, compared to the re92, i notice better traction, they peelout slightly less, and stick to the road much better on sharp turns, i never had them in the winter, but i doubt there will be much difference. 17" wheels are not that good for the winter anyhow.

i've seen them...
up close on the 350Z, Mazda RX8, and the IS300...
Treadwear rating was slightly better than blowtenza re92s but tread pattern way more agressive and appeared to be way more stickier... ride noise and comfort will be compromised as several reviews of these cars did mention substantial noise and roughness...
I'd think the re 730's will fare much better than the 040's...
