I went to the last Nissan Meet on Oct 12th and I was talking to someone with a Cattman exahust on his Maxima (2k or 2k2 don't remember), anyway he was nice enough to start up his car and ravv it a little.
My impression was, its not loud at all from the inside, and not very loud from the outside too. You can hear the exhaust at about 2500RPM through 4500RPM and after that it kinda quiets down. I really like it.
I havn't heard what Greddy Evo sounds like though.

haha nismotech, that was me that revved the engine. btw its a 2k2 auto =( having the catback exhaust doesn't make a whole lot of difference in noise and performance. noise as what nismotech is correct. but the performance, i did not get any gains from it. for 2k2's ive heard that its the quietest one on the market. i heard greddy's catbacks are loud. and even louder with a y pipe. but i wanna know how it sounds with a ypipe AND cattman catback exhaust for a 2k2. im expecting its gonna be louder, but i dunno if its gonna quiet down after about 3k rpm. btw any news about the ypipes yet???

Let's cut to the chase . . .
A y-pipe in combination with a catback exhaust/straight-through muffler is going to be substantially louder than stock. And it's going to drone at freeway speeds. I've yet to hear anyone say otherwise.
As always, beauty is in the eye . . . or in this case, the ear . . . of the beholder. Some will like the way the combination of a Y-pipe and a catback exhaust sounds and some will not. I did not. That's why I reinstalled my OEM rear section. I wasn't the first to do that and I won't be the last.
Based on my experience and the experience of many other members of this Org, I'd suggest you start by installing just a Y-pipe and a B-pipe. Run that combination with your OEM rear section and see how you like it. If you want more (or to be precise, MUCH more) noise, replace your OEM muffler with a straight-through muffler.

I have the Cattman cat back system on my 2000 Maxima and it was louder than stock. To the point that it souded like I had a exhause leak. I was not impressed with the sound (way to load for me, my 16 yr old son loved it) I took of the muffler section and put the factory muffler back on and know you can hear it only when you really get on it.
OH! did I mention the power....WOW, talk about a huge difference. You can really tell how much harder it pulls.

Anybody has this setup? What do you think will sound like if I run a setup of
Cattman Y-pipe -> Random Tech Cat -> Cattman B-pipe -> stock muffler
My question is isn't our stock muffler used on Skyline GT-R as well? So its consider high flow right? I mean at idling we are only using 1st outlet from the muffler and used both outlet only when accelerating hard.
Is our "High flow muffler" restrictive?
