HAHAHA Thanks for the jab. My old lady keeps a tight grip on the purse strings so i can't really spend much money on mods. So for now i'm purely cosmetically modding.

I'm not sure if it's legal or not, but since it doesn't really look like a mod (i guess it really isn't) i doubt i'll get much flack for it. Lots of cars have red turn signals, so i don't see how i could really get in trouble for it. But you know how that goes. . .

Of course it's legal. Tons of older cars had red turn signals, my 94 T-bird turns were red. Nothing says they can't be red, but white on the other hand is illegal most places

Let's not give any general advice which might be incorrect. Every state is allowed to set rules governing motor vehicle safety regulations and many states have dramatically different verbiage. Zoggfatha can read the following URL for details on the VA State Code:

VA Motor Vehicle Code

Releasetruth, you can read the following for details on your state code:

AZ Motor Vehicle Code

In many states, despite the fact that red/amber lights can be interchanged most often, Altezza lights are illegal merely because they often inhibit the full functionality of any lamp by blocking parts of it with plastic. Also, in some states, tail lamps must be marked with the SAE stamp of approval which most Altezza lights are not.

I hate to see people call out the general legality of lights, side markers, etc. without having actually looked into it. Everybody should check with their own state's code before making any assumptions about red, amber, or clear lights or otherwise.

you can all hate on altezzas and say that you hate all the honda's that have them but you gotta remember, they are Altezza lights orginally. Meaning, blame all those Toyota drivers for starting the biggest Honda trend.

How'd you get the yellow out, and the new red in?

Looks good! I don't know if I would do it though, just asking!

I got the idea from emax. Just sprayed some red transparent spray paint through the whole in the back of the taillight. Search for "5 minute all red" to find the thread.

Hmmm, I could not find anything about turn signals required to be amber.

there is some interesting stuff in there. Side markers cannot be more than 6 candle power; you cannot operate a truck on the highways of VA if the truck has a non-factory lift; you cannot ride in the back of a truck if you're under 16.....

yeeeeee-haw Virginia!

Yeah we need a redneck smiley with a cowboy hat and a piece of straw hangin from it's mouth. . .

Yeah i didn't see anything about amber turn signals, but there was a term that was a little ambiguous that mentioned colors.

"The Superintendent may promulgate regulations not inconsistent with this section and § 46.2-1038 governing the construction, location, and operation of turn signals and the COLOR of lights which may be used in any such signal device."

Now if someone would please define promulgate

promulgate

\Pro*mul"gate\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Promulgated; p. pr. & vb. n. Promulgating.] [L. promulgatus, p. p. of promulgare to promulgate; of unknown origin. Cf. Promulge.] To make known by open declaration, as laws, decrees, or tidings; to publish; as, to promulgate the secrets of a council.

Syn: To publish; declare; proclaim. See Announce.

Jeff, basically, they can change it...
honestly, I don't think that your set up is legal. I like the way it looks, but the amber light is functional so I'm going to keep it.

I think what the code does is allow for the Superintendent of the VDOT to decide whatever he/she wants. The statement is, "The Superintendent may promulgate regulations not inconsistent with this section and § 46.2-1038 governing the construction, location, and operation of turn signals and the color of lights which may be used in any such signal device."

Send the VDOT a letter with the specific example and photographs of the equipment you have a question about and I'm sure you'll get an accurate response.

The Alteezas that don't have a ton of chrome look okay on some cars. Why on earth would someone want them for a Maxima or Honda Accord? Don't forget about the Ford Focus. It seems like every Ford Focus has Alteezas. It kinda reminds me of the day when I had a Hyundai Excel that cost $7000 new and a $6,000 stereo system in it These kids are buying cheap cars and eventually spending almost the same amount on mods.
