Holiday Decision - Tint or Intake

Well, my parents asked me what i'd like for the Chanukah, yes I'm a jew, lol, and I told them the mods that I want to get for my car:
1. Tint
2. Injen CAI
3. RSB
4. Rims

They ruled out rims being too expensive, and a RSB is not what I want for a holiday gift, so its between the Injen CAI and tint. Now, if i had my way, i would get 15% in the front and 10% in the back, but they are being dumb and saying i HAVE to get the legal 35% tint in the front. So what should i do?! I'm thinking about talking the tint guy into putting 15% on the front windows and just telling my parents that its 35% and putting 10% on the back windows. Would you guys choose tint over cai? Right now my car has no tint whatsoever so I'd really like that, but with MY conditions, not theirs.

Injen...

If you do decide on the tint, it's probably a good idea to keep it legal since A) your parents are paying for it and B) Tickets suck.

But to avoid that altogether, there's always the Injen, and that would actually make your car go faster.

Just out of curiosity, why no RSB? I just installed the Stillen version in my car and the handling is amazing now. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

Well, a long time ago the Stones had a song....'You Can't Always Get What You Want...' Being a parent, I'd urge you not to be dishonest with yours. (we will find out! )

Better to have them get you the intake....then buy the tint with your own money....

TINT

For sure...the aesthetic value of tint outweighs the performance gains of an intake IMO.

Re: TINT

You're in Arizona. Tint.

And don't lie to your parents. The legal tint % is plenty enough. I did that to my car in high school and they made me take it back to the tint shop and have it changed. It was really embarrassing....and expensive.

tint

As MichaelAE said, that aesthetic value of the tint is huge! It gives the car some attitude.

There always seems to be some sort of setback with you and your cars both past and present.

My parents words were 'if we see your car with illegal tint, we'll take your car away.' I don't think they'd actually do it, but they'd be mad and claim they distrust me. Remember, this comes from teh parents who say i cannot drive with a radar detector because it will make me speed more, even though they already know i drive 10mph over the speed limit regularly, and that is not when someone is ****ing me off around me. I asked my parents again today if i could 'start' driving with the radar detector and they said no, and i asked why and they said 'it'll make you speed' so i said i already speed, as both my parents know, and my dad said 'fine, then you deserve to get pulled over without a warning from a detector'. They aggrivate me so much sometimes!

TINT

the tint will be noticeable by everyone, the intake only when you floor it, and then only your ears will notice anything. Your mind might play some tricks on you making you believe that you actually "feel" the difference.

Well the decision has been made all:

Today i woke up and got a nice call from my employer, letting me know that my paycheck had come in. $ = Then I left my room to notice that there was a check from my grandparents in the kitchen corridor. $$ = I called around for places for tint, and many places aren't open til Monday, so I decided to go with the Injen CAI since it would be done today. Just came home now from bein out and boy do i love the CAI, i LOVE the way it sounds! I wish it made that throaty noise at lower rpms also, but while I was buying my cone I noticed that Alex @ southwestautoworks had a muffler there. So on monday I will get my tint installed somewhere, one of my really good friend's dad is the manager of a Mercedes-Benz dealership and he said he can get me a tint hookup for about 115 all windows except the windshield. So tint will be here early next week, and i'll hopefully get the exhaust soon also! I'm getting excited, can't you tell?
