Replacement Tires: GLE

Hey folks,

Just took delivery of an 03 GLE for my wife over the weekend. Of course they come stock with BS Turanzas. Any GLE owners with 17" wheels had to replace their stock tires yet? If so, what did you go with?

I'm not a fan of BS tires and can't wait to get these off. I think the tire compromises the ride of the car. My leaning due to experience and extreme satisfaction are Michelin Energy's or I'm hearing some buzz about the Agility.

Thoughts? No rush...I may have to live with these for a little while, but I can't take them for long!

Thanks!!

i have 9K miles on my 2k2 GLE, and the next thing i'm going to probably do is switch the tires. we got stuck with the 6.5 rims anyway, i was probably going to go with the michelin sport A/S. i figure i'm just going to be spending a little more than what the turanzas cost. 225/50, or 235/50 are the only sizes that we can use. sorry, i haven't heard anything about the agility tires. the A/S's are pricey, but from what i hear, they're the best all season tire we can buy.

Hey, thanks for the quick response. If you don't mind, keep me posted on what you get and how you compare the ride and handling of the car. My experience is that BS are jittery, these Turanzas seem worse than most; I've been able to live with the Potenzas on my 02 SE. I'm not familiar with the sport AS. I'll have to look into it. After the first road trip just today (400 mile round trip) I know I'll have to make a switch before the next road trip, else we are taking my SE (grin).

maxmann - you may want to do a search on this on the forum, i just found some good info recommending some sumitomos and a few other brands that are far less expensive than the michelins (though the AS's do look sharp).

good luck!
