the first oil change wasd done at 3800 miles.
i used castrol syntec blend. i know, not the best of choice, but what's done is done.
i am now at 6900 miles and should be changing it soon. i've heard that the 10k mark is when the car is fully broken in.

i've been told to use regular castrol for this 2nd change and then at 10k i can go fully synthetic (amsoil, redline, whatever). then again, some think that this 2nd change should be the fully synthetic.

and then again, some may thing this thread is useless since the car's already been through 1 oil change. i'm just making sure...for peace of mind.

and while i'm on the oil change, i guess i'll ask about tranny change. at what mileage should i do the tranny fluid (plan on goin synth. flush with that also).

i live in NY, so figure this is for all types of season. thanx guys.

 

IMO, I think your VQ will be just fine either way. Stop worrying or even better, do an oil analysis.
I went to Mobil 1 @ 5k. For the tranny, planning to go Mobil 1 ATF + Lubegard at 15k.

 

VQ's began making the most HP after 6000 miles. Depending on driving style, it can take alittle longer....

The only point to waiting is letting the VQ get smooth and start pulling harder than new. If you've reached that, then switch. Switching early wont hurt anything, it would just take longer for that point to be reached.
