FrankenCar installed and better gas mileage.
Before FrankenCar:
Gas light would come on 300 miles or so and then I would drive an extra 20 and then fill up. It usually took 15-16 gallons.
After FrankenCar:
Gas light came on at 340!
I drove another 15-20 and then filled up. 15.5 gallons.
And remember, this was my first full tank with intake installed, so you KNOW I had my foot in it most of the time. Gotta love that Growl.

Does anyone have a .WAV of the "growl"?
I was thinking about getting one, but my buddy has a cheap intake on his V6 Accord and it sounds a little ricey when he opens it up. Not only that but it has this awful hissing (sucking?) sound at idle.
I would love to hear the sound if anyone has a Frankencar on a 2K2-3. Or knows where I might find it online.
Thanks!

Yea, this damn Max is costing me more money than any other car I've ever had before! I've got a real problem.
Hey, anyone have any .WAVs of the Y-Pipe?

I've got the outside one as my start up sound.
IF any of you are interested you can save more than a hundred bucks making your own. Save the money for a Y-pipe, it's a nice compliment to an intake.
If you want to extend the piping to a PRCAI style some measurements and hole would get you there for under 100.00.
Here is how to make the midpipe ($15.00)
http://www.drwebdesign.com/mymaxima/upperintake.html
(I made two inserts for both vaccum lines)
Now choose a filter (20-$60.00)
Here is how to attach the MAF sensor to the filter (without having to buy a mounting bracket) (free)
http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=35
This will save you a lot of money, give you some exprience under the hood, and the satisfaction of being able to tell others that you made your mod, not bought it. You can also color it or customize it anyway you want.
Let me know if you need any help.

This is information that has been passed down a couple of times to me. I did make the midpipe, and am about to attach it to a velocity stack and filter. I had originally fabricated a second opening in the stock box to direct air from the PRCAI source, along with the midpipe. This gave me two sources of air for the stock box (if you look at the Saleen S7 intake it looked pretty much like this, two sources on adjacent sides) to breath from and it worked out great. I am now going to try the JWT velocity stack and filter, mount the intake temp sensor in the path of the ram air (that runs under the car) and feed that ram air to the filter to see which gives better results, the reason I am changing is to see if I get any gains from possibly smoothing out the air flow. This is a constant expriement and learning curve, we'll see.
As far as how this would compare to one you would buy, they are the exact same. Both are just a midpipe with a filter, it would be the filter that would decide who's was best. The midpipes are the exact same as far as function. However, if you make the midpipe yourself, you have a lot more money to work with for a filter. But again there is no difference in the function of the midpipe you make, and the one you buy. I would also look into getting a velocity stack, but if you just want the hybrid style intake, I would save your money and do it yourself.
Please let me know if you need any further help. I was really excited when I found a way to save a lot of money and try out a new intake without having to commit a lot of funds. I hope this will help others too, the information sharing on Maxima.org rocks!!
