First of all, I know I'm not smoking crack, and I know I saw my speedo hit 142 one time, as I hauled a$$ in the Desert ...in my auto 2K2 SE...

My 96 WS6 6 speed would get well over 155 .... I have the speeding ticket on the I40 in Arizona to back it up.....

There is NO government limit on a (sports cars) top speed. An R-6 or any 600 SS is 155-160 in the right conditions. These are the facts!
and good facts they are...I don't know why quiksilver thought 155 was top speed...

BTW I was laughing when I wrote the..."www.yurbikesuks.com" comment...
no relaxation needed...

SEs are not limited to 130, but those delivered with H rated rubber are (ie. GXE and GLE). That is a fact.

If you had read the whole thread you would've seen that I corrected myself later, they were both r6's. And by the way the Vette was a z06 with the only visible mods being exhaust. It's funny how you guys will come down on someone and talk about being BSer when you didn't read the whole thread.Just a thought...

Sorry guys, Man I hate it when I am wrong. I neglected to check the tire speed rating on the SE, I figured it was the same and the R-6's would lose to a Vette or WS6 in a top speed battle or long highway run, but not by too much. Well I will be picking up a Maxima this month, so I'll check the top speed out then, but until then I'll shut up. I can't wait to get a Maxima that is for sure!

Why would anyone want to go that fast on a public street? Even if you thought there was no one else around, your actions are still extremely negligent and quite retarded! You are lucky no one got hurt, and the rest of us are lucky Nissan put that speed limiter in !!!

You are correct, only 10 seconds is a little slow!! Some mags have it running in the high 9's, yes that's stock. Apples to oranges really but where can you get a 10 second car stock, especially for around $11K. Of course you are less wet in a Max, unless your moonroof is open.

I went through this when I got my Talon TSi back in 95 (same as eclipse GS-T or GS-X)

The AWD guys could hit 150+, the FWD drive guys would hit 130-135 and definitley hit an ECU fuel cut. It cut for about 100 RPMs. SO at road speeds, it just felt like you were held back. It was a speed govenor, but why....

For whatever reason, the FWD came with H rated tires, the AWD version came with z rated. The speed govenor was purely based on tire rating.

The engines were identical.

Mitsu built this into the FWD drive ECUs and was easily removed by taking out a capictor. I don't know the exact method but I heard it was easy. I doubt it's the same mechanism on the Nissan ECU.

This shows how a manufacturer took otherwise identical cars and put in different ECUs based on tire rating.

As for the 155 barrier I read about here, I'd have to dispute that. I've seen a couple videos of AWD talons and FWD w/speed govenor removed pegging the spedo....the spedo goes to 165. One vid has a guy hitting 176, obviously there's nothing governing speed to 155. Here's the videos:

This one is in car:

Ever wonder what it looks like when a car flies by at those speeds? Check this out:

This is why I kept my Talon. You can get these things into the low 13s high 12s pretty cheap.

Of course the car can go faster than 155 AFTER IT HAS BEEN MODIFIED> There was never any disputing that. It's straight from the factory that I'm talking about. Jesus guys...

I'm not jumping your case but I gave you 2 articles in my 1st post strait from C&D stating the vette's are well over 165 strait from the factory. Also the 911 TT is 180's. Matt
