Fixed my STS! Slipped down 3/4"!!!!
No wonder I was hitting the front of the console in 1st/3rd/5th and everytime I would accelerate it would vibrate the console.
I uninstalled my SMC STS to toss it in the trash and go back to stock when I found that the ball(piviot point) had slid down about 3/4" to just slightly above stock throw. The decreased angle of the SMC shifter bend allowed it to actually hit the console.
I decided to PERMANENTLY fix it. So, I removed the plastic or whatever foot off the set screw that holds the neoprene ball and made a divit in the threads of the shift rod. Now the set screw is recessed into the shift rod and the locktite will make sure it doesn't EVER vibrate loose. I was going to epoxy the bish, but decided that I may not like the new height I chose.
I didn't go as short as it was originally(no threads above the ball), but more than the radius of the ball shorter than stock(~4-threads above the ball). The shifter now returns to the center of the H when I let go, except 5th or reverse.

Ya know.....I bought the B&M STS instead of the Pacesetter or SMC based on you findings of the shifter hitting the top of the console.
Danm you!!
j/k at least I won't have to worry about it hitting or vibrating loose. And I'm glad you got it fixed...I know that would drive me nuts!

Yeah, however now I can hear a different rattle coming from the fuse panel area.
Probably my sub install handiwork. Dooh!
