Yup, it happens to me also. Braking is smooth right after I get a car wash and all the brake dust and stuff gets washed out. After a few days it's back to brake jutter like crazy. Waiting until I need my next brake job to install Stillen rotors.

Yeah that's what happens. When mine started to warp they only vibrated during a certain window of speeds. It'll get worse as you go. Eventually mine vibrated almost any time i used the breaks over 20 mph.

Are you positive they are warped? Do you have aftermarket rims?

As long as your under the 36k miles, you dont need anything. Just come in and set your foot down and say "replace my rotors AND PADS!!! under the TSB for warped rotors"

Make sure you get some pads too! Whenever u replace rotors, u need a new set of pads so they wont warp again.

My friend GXE-r who lives close to me, recieved rotors and pads for free under 36k protection wntty.

If the dealer gives you crap, just tell them to look up TSB NTB00-088a.

they will cut them

SoloMaxima,

I just took my 2000 GLE in for this problem. I had it for a while, but finally got there at around 33K miles.

Read the TSB closely - all it does it tell the service people how to cut the rotors.

You're going to have to fight a little harder to get a replacement.

First words out of the Service Advisor's mouth were " no brake inspection is covered under warranty - this will be at least $69.95" - I told him just look at them and tell the technician there is a TSB - I had the copy, but never showed it.

They called me later and said it would be done under warranty. I asked about replacements - they said no way.

Unless you have a super, service friendly dealer - you can forget replacements (unless this is something you've been there for in the past).

Just my experience

Re: Re: they will cut them

I had warped rotors on my 2k3 (no TSB) with 2100 miles. They cut my rotors (all 4) and sent me on my way. I argued ahead of time to get new rotors and pads but both the dealer and NNA told me no. It pi^sses me off because now my rotors have already been cut once therefore taking life away from them.

My dealer cut the rotors (fronts only...the rears never warped) the first time I took it in (12k miles) When i brought it back at 20k, they replaced the rotors. Both times were covered by warranty.

Two weeks ago, I took it back again with warped rotors. Unfortunately, at 50k miles, it wasn't covered. Dealer claimed they'd never had problems with Maxima brakes before. Uh huh...yeah.

Save the receipts (credit card and statement, as you should w/ all records) and if a TSB comes out, demand reimbursement from NNA. Basically you're the guinea pig, er data, they are collecting...

Igor, he did pay for that, but that's iffy since he's over 36K.

Was this for all four rotors and pads? Seems like a lot if not.

Sounds a little steep to me. That is why once the warranty is out, the dealer will never see my car again.

I had this problem too, and of course was more noticeable at higher speeds. Dealer diagnosed it as warped rotors and resurfaced them at about 8500 miles.

What do you mean by cracked fan belt? Max's have an electric motor that turns the fan(s). I think the dealer is pulling your leg as they usually do.

I plan to. That was my argument that it could happen out of warentee. The thing is that I started to feel the judder outside of my 1000 mile break in period. I was going easy on the brakes and under 60 (well, 70 ) so I didn't notice it although it was probably there from the start.

Luckilly, I have all my files in a big folder that I will keep until I sell the car.
