Tailights on 5th gen - which is which?
Before I bought my 2k3 I wasn't involved in 5th gens at all
, so don't know the details of the tailights used in early 5th gen (handy when approaching another max from the rear - yes, I searched). Is it:
2k, 2k1 - SE black outline around red, GXE / GLE all red?
2k2 is same as 2k3, so have those covered
Just curious - thanks!

Also another way to differentiate the years by their asses - 2k2-3 have silver non-italicized Maxima logos, while 2k-2k1 are black italics on SEs, and silver italics on GXE/GLE. Also, the tell tale exhaust pipe - 2k2-3 don't have the box thing around them any more.

I don't know, call me weird or whatnot, but I actually really like the tails on the 5th gens (esp. the 2k2/3 look). I think these tails are just right--not too big (like 2004 Max) and serve their function well (i.e. bright), yet look good and fit in with the rear of the car.

Yes you did read that correct. The car is a 2000 that was built in July of 2000 and sat on the lot til Nov of 2000 when we bought it with 98 miles on it. From what I can tell it has all options EXCEPT the leather/auto climate control package. It is real unusual because I watched the 2k's for over a year before we got out of the lease on our 99SE (IT was cheaper to trade out than buy out)and never saw another with those options and definitely did not see many in Satin Blue. It was a tossup but be chose our car over another Satin Blue SE because of the cloth v/s leather issue.
