HID Theft - We are not the only ones who noticed

FYI, Autotoys.com has a little write up on how to use thier products to beef up your OEM Maxima alarm system.

Didn't I see somewhere that Nissan will try and void the warranty if you add an alarm (understand that legally this can be fought, but...)? Didn't find it in a search.

I ran across this article a while back, and did a little research. The alarm they are referring to is the Hornet 700T. It is manufactured by DEI. I understand they manufacture many brands of alarms. Go to their site to see other alarm systems Directed.com.

If you are electronically inclined I have seen this alarm (the basics only) listed for as little as $75 on the internet. I had this alarm installed at a local car audio store, and love it. It probably isn't as sofisticated as other "Name Brand" alarms, but I was more interested in keeping my OEM Keyfob. The installer suggested I purchase two shock sensors which he placed directly behind each headlight. At least this way if the HID thieves do not make enough of a rucous to set off the cabin sensor, they will set off the front ones. It is pretty sensitive, a firm knuckle on the fender or hood will set the trigger off but quick.

PS - Don't forget the airhorn option... lots of decibels!!!
PPS- The alarm will flash parking lights, not your HIDs... I understand flashing them decreases their lifespan (stupid Nissan).
