$120 to install a Y pipe

...seems a little high to me. I didn't even ask about the B&M STS?

I do not know where you are getting this done. The price is indeed high as the Y pipe is plug and play.

Only hard part about it is breaking loose the bolts.

I have not installed a Y-pipe, but I plan to do so soon. The install, from what I have heard, is time consuming, but it's not hard.
The same rule applies for the STS. It's a good idea to do both at the same time; however, with the proper tools you CAN install the STS without removing the cat.

I would recommend doing the install yourself with the help of a friend. It will probably take the better part of the afternoon to install both of these parts.

Spartan Brake and Muffler in Springfield MA.

I explained that it shouldnt take more than an hour with Airtools and a Lift. If I prep the shifter, they should be able to slap it right in there too. The car only has 40k on it, so I doubt the bolts are THAT bad. If it weren't for the cold streak here in the NE I get my fat a$$ on the ground and do it myself

That price is silly considering what they have to do. On a lift installing a ypipe would be a sinch. As others say it is simply pug-and-play.

BTW, if the studs going into the cat are the originals, then they will be tough to get off. However at a exhaust shop, they can heat them up and they should come right off.

Im hoping that when they see it, and realize its pretty easy, they will drop the price.

How bout this? Ask them their hourly rate, bring your y-pipe, then sit there and watch them do it, and pay them accordingly. See if they'll go for that one

I'm also needing to have a y-pipe installed, and was wondering if the prices people quoted included the necessary gaskets. I don;t have any gaskets (bought my y-pipe used) and I'm looking as to what seals/gaskets I need and where to get them.

120 is waayyy too high. i got mine installed for $40. Its pretty simple; if i had air tools or if it would have cost more to install i would have done it myself. find another place or demand their hourly rate and watch them like MN Max said; it sould take less than an hour unless they are retarded or trying to rape you.

btw zeitgeist57, you can get OEM gaskets at any nissan parts department; they will work with an aftermarket y. Make sure they are the right ones though. Budget and Nissan both gave me wrong parts.

$120.00??? I suggest you save that $120.00 and do the Y-Pipe install yourself. If you ever installed a header or cat-back exhaust before then you can do a Y-Pipe. If not, a Maxima ESM is your best friend.
