Strobes question.

I am getting a strobe kit installed by Don(Pearl96Max) soon I have a couple of questions.

Has anyone drilled the 2k2 Housing in order to install strobes?

Since my car is in the shop for having my HID's ripped out I was thinking maybe I shouldn't put the strobes in the headlights in case they steal them again, since if they do, they will mess up the strobes when they rip out the headlight.

Can strobes be installed in the 2k2 foglights?

I have HID's on my foglights, so it will probably be hard to fit.

Last question, since the car is on a lease.

When you turn the car in, how closely do they inspect it?Will they give me any grief for having the strobes?

You better not be getting any el-cheapo strobe kits. What kit are you getting? I have the 90 watt whelen kit.

The dealership won't give you any problems unless they are really ****. I've never heard of anyone have problems, but the 2002 HIDs are fancier, so they may inspect them. If you need a quality WHelen kit, e-mail me

Usually they won't say anything about 'extras' neither will they give you anything for them. If you've added anything of value to a leased car, you'll likely want to take it out and sell it or put it on your next car. Hell, unless you turn them on, they won't even know you have strobes. They don't check that close.

Thanx, that's what I wanted to hear, I guess I could take them out before I take the car in.

If it's the whelen or tomar kit and you know you can't protect them hids from being ripped again, then you may want to reconsider the headlight strobe placement. Both kits come with very nice cables and connectors for both ends. Someone pulling and ripping at them will cause you much grief as the cleanliness of the overall install will be compromised. The power supplies are to be placed in the passenger compartment as weather is no good for them. So if a cable gets ruined and is too short then you are replacing the cable all the way into the passenger compartment.

That's not true. You don't need to replace the whole cable if it gets ruined or cut. You can just patch the cable or buy new connectors and fix what got ruined. There's no need to guy buying brand new cable and spending more money. You can even make your own cable if your short too buy just using some 12 guage wire

So you would be willing to splice in some 12 guage wire, shrink wrap and loom it different from the other two cables that are running up to the fog light strobes. I wouldn't you just jerry rigged something that was mint. Not to mention you in the back of your mind know the splice is there. Also the connector for the Tomar and Whelen kits are specific to them. It is not an ordinary Napa Auto Parts connector. Either way he is spending money. Connector, shrink wrap, 12 guage wire, solder, and labor. Or order up a new cable since you have to go order connectors anyway. Matter of choice I guess. Personally, with the hids getting jacked like they are, why risk it? Only causing more work and headaches for yourself if you are hit..
