Got warpspeed y and b pipes on

Now I have terrible vibration and clunking when you hit the accelerator. I have an idea on how to fix but from the others that had this problem what was your fix??? I had planned to work on it today but we just got over 8" of snow here so now I have to find somebody with a garage. Matt

Was there a clearance problem or something? Everything is tight?

I think I am going to have to drop the y with rubber bushings and use longer bolts to stop the clunking. I didn't install a guy from a local club did it for me while I was at work but I didn't hear any sound of leaks. That leads me to believe its a clearance issue. Matt

Ok I am off to try to fix the problem. I will check in later and let everyone know if I resolved the issue.

There are metal support brackets. They are black and about a foot long that span across tunnel underneath the car. There are two of them and you have to remove them in order for the pipe to clear. The Warpspeed Y pipe hangs lower than the stock one. Let me know how it turns out.

I'm interested to see what fixes this. I've got my y and b sitting in my office right now while I wait for my spark plugs to come in so I can take care of them all in one night.

That was the exact problem. The pipes fit snug with out any known leaks. It was about a 10 min fix and now when this $hity snow clears I will be able to test out the car. I will be dynoing next week to see what the actual gains are for my car with the mods in sig. Matt

Sorry I did not get to you before you left earlier blubyu2k2. The problem eluded me for a little bit cause it just wasn't that easy to see. Polo...I threw mine away, but now that you know, you should be able to see them with no problem. I don't know about the others, but mine was aluminized to cut down a little weight and I am probably gonna eventually switch the stuff out for bigger pipe once I get a turbo or supercharger on there. This recent change in my exhaust was in preparation for a butt load of NOS.

How is the performance of the WSP y-pipe? I plan on purchasing one in the future.

well look2me40, from what i understand, there should be no difference at all power wise with the aluminized and the SS models. the SS just offers the benefit of being SS, that which can easily be achieved with the aluminized and some rustoleum spray paint. won't look nice, but it's under the car, so who cares. plus, it's also good to header wrap it, so nothing would show anyway.

anyone agree or disagree...

I don't think it is a good idea to wrap the pipe because condensation can form under the tape and just sit there. Constant water in between the pipe and the wrap could make a hole sooner rather than later. As far as power, no, there is no diff in power between Aluminized and SS. I was saying there is a slight weight differece and it was cheaper...

Matt,

Did you get the B-pipe with the resonator?

Is the new set-up any louder than stock and if so please explain.

It has a little more grunt than stock but its not loud at all. I kinda like the tone now and yes I have the resonated b pipe. Matt

Hey Matt,
What is the performance like with the new Y and B pipes? Noticeable improvement? If you had to guess, what do you think you would dyno with all your mods now.

I will let everyone know once this ice clears and I can test it. I will also be dynoing next week after I get the b pipe welded b/c there is a small leak were the clamp connects the two sections together. Matt

Is B pipe necessary?

I'm waiting for my tax return to come in next week... I'm pretty sold on the Warpspeed Y-pipe thanks to you guys. I am a little on the fence about waiting for Cattman's version to come out. My question is... What is the advantage of the B-pipe? Is there a significant gain by adding the b-pipe to the y-pipe? Is there an installation problem if you don't add the b-pipe? Does the b-pipe affect the noise level? I plan to keep the stock muffler for stealth purposes. I didn't want to start a new thread on this, so I figure this would be an appropriate thread to ask the questions. Thanks!!

I would recommend getting a b pipe to open up the rest of the exhaust. I have it running to the stock muffler and the noise is almost a quiet as stock. There are 2 major crimps in the stock b pipe that a pretty restrictive. I would say its not a huga gain but worth it overall when I get the charger

Is the B-pipe fairly simple to install? I plan on installing the y-pipe myself. The most extensive mod I've done by myself was the Injen CAI. (Took me about an hour with no problems)

yes its fairly simple if you have enough ground clearance to work with. The major PIA is getting the heat shield off of the y pipe. After that is basically 9 bolts for the y pipe and 6 for the b pipe

yep that basically it, the heatshield is the pain in the @$$, otherwise its simply as pie...the only thing u might rin ont a problem with is connecting the b pipe, they supply a clamp but i believe those thing dont hold well and leak. So i got that part welded and left the clamp on for extra protection =]

i can post some pics if u guys want...

1. Where are you getting the MAF from?
2. Why are you getting an 01 instead of the newer 02/03, isn't the MAF housing for an 01 smaller than a 02? It is from a 99'
3. How much are you paying for it?

emax has already tested it and it works and the 01 doesn't have a problem with blown MAF as much as the 02-03. I am getting it from DAVEB on the org. I think its $83 and some change. Matt

Based on this picture, I can tell you where your clearance problem comes from. Look at the downward angle that the pipe has. If the pipe was bent to be a bit upward, the entire exhaust would be pulled up higher from the ground - thus clearing the cross members. How do I know this would fix it??? Well - I have a WSP y-pipe w/ full cat-back system and I had to have it bent a bit to lift the entire system upward.

I bet y'all want to know why I say had... pm me, I'll tell ya.
