bose stereo (radio) sounds like you-know-what
bose stereo (radio) sounds like you-know-what
I am not at all happy with the sound of the radio in the Bose stero in my wife's 2k2 SE. As I understand it, it is a Clarion unit?
CDs sound good, not spectacular, but many times better than the radio. The radio has no punch, no depth, and no clarity. There is practically no treble at all. I turn the treble to +5 and it still doesn't sound as good as the stock crapola 2 speaker stereo in our 94 Corolla.
The sound seems to be about 75% coming from the front speakers when the fader is balanced between front and rear. If I put the fader 100% to the rear, I get practically no treble at all back there.
In the rear, is there only the subwoofer, or are there speakers back there as well? It almost sounds like there should be speakers in the back, but they aren't working.
Thanks...SteveH

Re: bose stereo (radio) sounds like you-know-what
I agree with you. CDs sound better than the radio and the overall sound seems pretty flat. I just replaced my tweeters with the Polk EX3500 as did some of the other .org members and there is a definite improvement in sound. It doesn't make the Bose a top quality stereo system but you will definitely improve treble and the overall richness of the sound.
Look/search for the posts regarding tweeters (specifically one from TIMW) for all of the info you'll need. Good Luck.

But this is the wife's car, so I can't call it a mod. Maybe an "enhancement"
