Don't lend your car to your mom.....

cause she'll leave it in gear and then you remote start it and it will take off and smack into the fence, scratching the **** out of the bumper.

i'm so not in the mood right now.

damn sorry to hear that.... that is why u need to have some kind of bypass so that when the car is in gear the auto start is disabled...

Think of all the stuff she let you use that you broke!
Hard to believe that the starter does not have neutral safety switch?

it's not ur mom's fault... but the person that installed the auto start on the manual w/o rewireing few extra wires so that it won't start when in gear... so give her another chance...

I was under the impression that you HAD to bypass the safety (clutch interrupter switch) in order to get an auto start to work on a manual? This is what's been holding me back from getting one.

yeah, i've already started inquiring about side and rear skirts. if it's gonna be in the shop for the front, i might as well buy everything and get it painted. gotta love my logic, right...i'm a damn fool.

i've already shrugged and laughed at it...actually looked at it this morning and it doesn't look bad. no real damage. surprisingly, the headlights weren't touched at all. only the bumper got scratched up. i see spider webs all over, that's all. and since i have 4 scratches in the rear bumper from idiots that don't know how to park, i'm gonna have that fixed as well.

lifes too short to worry about the petty ****. there's a reason we work. and situations like this will always arise.

i did the RS...it's a ***** to do the RS on the 6 speed, cause you need 2 relays wired in odd ways and i'm just too lazy to do it. well i guess i regret not doing it now...whatever....like i said, such is life.

i'll prolly do it int he next few weeks..i've already made a huge deal about it that i don't think my mom will ever leave it in gear ever again...

i am not usually a gear parker.. N usually does it for me.. but with my calipers freezing lately due to exterme tempretures last week.. i been force to park in gear.. i hate parking in gear.. never learned it that way.. and hate doing it now.. i forgot to park in gear last week when it snowed.. calipers locked up... rear wheels semi-locked up.. went down a hill in the snow and did a 180 ... most of the time i let my turbo timer shut the car off..

I say not only should the guy that installed it wired it so you couldn't remote start in gear...

You knew it would remote start while in gear, so why didn't you tell your mom not to leave it in gear?

I don't have this problem though...my mom has a 2k2 SE Maxima....so she doesn't even ask to drive mine.

Sounds like it was YOUR fault, not your mom's...you should apologize to her...because she couldn't have known...but if you did tell her, and she still left it in gear, than I apologize to you..

it was no one's fault...bad situation...we learn our lesson
if she ever drives, i need to start it myself.

sorry...

I scratched the rear bumper on my car...the good ole notchy shifter...I thought I had it in gear, but I didn't...over night, my car rolled back and was barely touching the garage door...next morning, my wife opens the garage door...scratches the crap out of the bumper...completely my fault...oh well...I use the parking brake now...

Your mom was doing things the right way. You're supposed to put a manual transmission car in gear when you park it.

When I park downtown I never leave it in gear cause too many people have hit it. I don't want extra load on my gears. Once, a guy backed in so hard into my Max that it cracked the front grill. I saw it cause I was walking up to my car to leave. I was so ****ed. Insurance covered it cause it wasn't my fault.

As for lending one's car to one's mother. I did that once. My sister came to town with her baby so I lent them my car cause it had baby seat things (my mom's car was too old to have them). Anyway, first day she has the car, she loses a key. Doh! Those keys aren't cheap!
I still haven't replaced it yet (this was 1.5 years ago) but I'm going to have to at some point. Oh and whenever she'd open the door, she'd open it too wide and hit the side wall of the driveway. When I saw that I freaked. Moral: don't lend your car to your mother (unless she has a nicer car than you do and it's in pristine condition cause she takes good care of it, which is a very rare exception.)
