Gauge Bulbs

Does anyone know where you can get a suitable aftermarket replacement for the bulbs that light up the gauge cluster? They look like smaller wedge bulbs, and I was hoping to find some hyperwhite kind of deal. Any info and help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have no real facts to back this up but remember reading somewhere that they were 194's, but I haven't taken it apart and looked yet. How easy is it to get to the bulbs?

No 194's are TOO BIG. Maybe W2's? I don't know if those are smaller than the 194's. Anyone else know?

BTW...the gauge assembly is easy to remove. A total of 8 screws and disconnecting some wire harnesses.

I didn't know it was that easy to get to it. I'll let you know this weekend when I open it up and look for myself. If you do find out, please post the bulb size.

P.S. check out this guy's guages and other blues. Very impressive:

Damn....Well I was just looking at my old gauges (I put in the SE gauges) and see the bulbs can easily be replaced. Hmmm....Maybe they might have something at Radioshack.

Yo listen up: here's a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees is
Just blue like him inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window
And a blue-lit Maxima and everything is blue for him
And himself and everybody around
'Cause he aint got nobody to listen: ...

I'm blue da ba dee....

I bet radioshack has them, but if they don't then go to an autozone or something and ask there. Are they LED's / do they need to be soldered? Or do they plug in?

I found that link on a fourm somewhere a few days ago or so. Most of the upgrades are done soldering new LED's that you can buy from radioshack. He said it was a 3 day project, but I'm worried about soldering myself. If I do change the bulbs, I will try to do a writeup.

The bulbs just plug in like 194, but the 194 bulbs are too big. Damn... I'll check with Radioshack and see if they have them. They are not LED.

Oh well... when you find out, make sure to post. When I poke around this weekend I'm also going to try to replace my Ignition Ring Light... have you looked into that at all?

Well the Radioshack by my house didn't have the bulbs. I'm going to try the one by my work, they have more of a selection. I am crossing my fingers on this one....if I can't find them there I might just order some W2 and see if they fit. Other than that...SOL

I don't know about the ignition light, I'd have to look into it.

Just to note, these LED wedge bulbs are just regular 194 bulbs (like the large one in your pics). They're cool, but they won't replace anything other than a wedge bulb.

Also, depending on the surrounding material the color can change. I have the blue LED wedge bulbs in the door and they look like a light blue (because of surrounding white) in my friends Accord they are more of a deep blue in his doors.

Does anyone know the actual name/size of this bulb?
I would like to search around and see who makes and/or who carries these.

I actually took one out and went to a few places to get some info, but had absolutely no luck. Nobody could even tell me what type of bulb it is!!!

I went to my Nissan Service Dept. a while back and got their codes for the bulbs. In the "Instrument Meter & Gauge" section, there are two types of bulbs, one is 14V-1.4W it's code No. is 24860P....the other type is 14V-3W it's code No. is 24860PA. I also got some info for the control unit....looks like the AC unit. For that section, it also looks like there are two different bulbs. One seems to be a 27545MA, and the other 27545M.

I don't know if any of this helps...but there you have it in case it does.

Well I tried swapping a bulb behind the gauges with the bulb in the ignition key ring that lights up. It was too small for the gauge bulb fitting....soo damn still nowhere on these.
