crankcase breather filter

Hey everybody,

Ive got a 2000 auto max with a Injen C.I.A.(other mods too...)
I was thinking about getting a crankcase breather filter.
I've done some searching on this site, and peoples opinions seem to be pretty mixed on the subject.
Is there any benefit to having one?
Unless I read some of the previous threads incorrectly, It seems that some people have had oil leak out of them...?
Also what would I do about the hole it would leave exposed on the intake?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Like everyone else has said. I think it's just a waste of money. Just use your stock crankcase breather line and you'll be fine. "IF IT AIN"T BROKE,DON"T MESS WITH IT..."

I guess it's a waste if you don't mind 100++ deg air circulating back into the intake. I say spend $8.00 and get one, the same people that say it is a waste are the same ones that will spend $100.00 in super bright marker lights.

I don't even think K&N makes one. They are sold at Pep Boys in the rice section, or on ebay. Check "breather filter", and don't pay more than $15 for one.

Also, to answer the original question... Just plug the hole on the intake.

I got a breather filter from Pep Boys. I think it was $15 or so. You can buy a rubber plug for the intake at Pep boys too. They come in pairs and cost couple of dollars. I bought it for looks, but when I took of the breather line you could see all that oil on it. I'm pretty sure it's not good for the engine.

a friend of mine recommended some sort of crankcase oil catch pan that he has for his s2000. I'm not sure if I used the correct term, but supposedly it catch the oil that comes out from the crankcase hole area and returns it back into the system. He said that we have the room since taking out the stock intake frees up alot of it.
