intermittent fast turn signals

My turn signals are intermittently flashing very fast, like there is a bulb out, or like I have LED's in the t/s's.

It only happens when the car is cold (like they have to warm up ), then after a while (not of use, but of having the car on), the speed goes back to normal. My bulbs are not blown (although I am unsure of the bulb condition when this is actually happening), they all work when I last checked them (like 15 minutes ago). I do have LED's in the side markers, but I do not have the side markers wired to the turn signals.

From my memory, this has only happened twice. The first time I thought I was imagining things, cause when I got the chance to change lanes again, they were working fine by then. But when it happened on my way to work today, I knew that I wasn't hallucinating.

Anyone else having this trouble? Or maybe just some ideas...

Thanks,

I had this happen last summer, but it only happened 3-4 times and it hasnt come back since. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

dunno, but my signal relay started squealing loudly and had to be replaced. So, I suspect its not a real high quality component

maybe you need to replace your bulbs?

actually, you may just need to re-seat the bulbs. I had a bulb like that. Just had to be moved around alittle and it was fine. :/

This might be it...
Check the bulbs on the side of the car this is happening to. It may be that there is a break in the filament, and that it is still touching (allowing current flow), and so that is when you encounter normal indicator flash. But, as it warms up, the broken filament moves (creating intermittent current flow), and it begins to flash fast.

I had this also at one time... the bulbs looked fine, but when I looked closely and shook the bulb, the broken filament actually wiggled in the bulb... and I could see the split in the middle. But it would go back to touching again (current could then flow through) and would work okay. I replaced the bulb... problem solved!

Eventually the indicators will just flash fast.
Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem in my truck. It ended up being caused by a burned out reverse light. Make sure you check those.

This is happening on both sides.

They all work fine. Although I do need to check their condition when the problem is occurring.

Maybe the relay is the culprit, although I have not experienced any noises from mine (not that a noise is an indication of a bad relay).
