Does that apply to the bedroom too?

resurrecting this 1 and a half year old thread to say: great instructions.. i just got my bar in the mail a few days ago, and will be installing it tomorrow.. i was a little confused at first because the directions that came with the progress RSB are absolutely worthless.. the pictures/diagrams just look like a bunch of squiggly lines from an old atari game.. this thread cleared up my questions.. nice job OP

one question though.. does it make a difference how far apart the u-bolt brackets on the rear axle beam are placed?

by the way...

FWIW: i have mine all the way to the edges of the welds,.. will make more sense when ur looking at it.. but on the beam..theres gonig to be a circular weld and mines on the edge of that...yaeh.. but there was a discussion before on here about wether it would be better if they were spaced all equally apart to provide better flexing,.. basically.. like trying to brake spagetti with ur hands on the ends or right next to each other in the middle... get the comparison? lol.. i say try both.. g/l

i installed them about 6 inches away from the edge of the bar on each side.. i think that should be good enough.. as long as it's even, i guess it's cool.. and yeah, i saw those welds you're talking about.. mine were like.. maybe 1-2 inches inside of those

Another bump and a question.

I just installed the Progress RSB. The forward ends of the bar only stick out of the bushings by about 3/8 of an inch or so. But if I move the brackets back toward the rear of the car more, that interferes with the mounting bracker for the e-brake.

The instructions say the bushings should be in about an inch. No way will mine mount there.

Yours the same or did you work around the e-brake mount?

Mine were the same.....only about 3/8 - 1/2 in. protruding through the bushings on the trailing arm. Been fine for about 3 years now.

Ditto.

I paid my mechanic $50 for this install in early 2009, and that's where it's been ever since. The "adjustable" nature of this RSB design requires some modification to the ebrake bracket to fit, but I'm just not sure it really matters.

While I have no way to prove this, and I'm pulling numbers out of my dookie, I think it's the difference between being 98% effective and 100% effective. Know what I mean?

Thanks vball and Rochester, I'll sleep better now.

Rochester, I envy your engine bay.

BTW the way, for anyone reading this thread who has not added the RSB, it is well worth the money. Handling in curves will never be like a bimmer, but it is way better than it was with no rear stabilizer bar. Makes a very noticeable difference under power in curves.

FWIW, there are some extra, unused bolt holes on the trailing arm. All I did was remove the e-brake bracket, and relocate it in front of the RSB.

Or something of that nature. I don't remember exactly how I did it, but it's worked just fine ever since. I'll crawl under my car tomorrow and refresh my memory.

Now that the bracket has been relocated, I can pretty much slide the mounting brackets for the RSB anywhere.

SLC, I wanted to go that route when I was installing it, but where the bracket connects to the cable does not look like that can be adjusted. Maybe I didn't look at it closely enough, but I didn't think you could slide the bracket along the e-brake cable.

Glad to share, and thanks for the compliment. Although I bet you don't envy the SES light that came on today. Grr-r-r-r.

Sometimes owning an 8 yr old, modified car is like raising a kid. Lots of fun, but also a major PITA.

Just to warn you......its not going to be a "holy ****" difference.......its a subtle but noticeable difference.

You will notice it most of freeway off-ramps.....at least thats when I noticed it the most.
