PIAA LEDs in clearance lights - did I screw up, or just expect too much...?
PIAA LEDs in clearance lights - did I screw up, or just expect too much...?
Well...drat. Just put PIAA Super LEDs in my clearance lights, expecting them to match my HIDs. They match great when the HIDs are first turned on, but once the Xenon's turn white the PIAAs look really blue.
I thought LEDs were supposed to be brighter and whiter than the Extreme Whites, so bought them instead. Are Extreme Whites better? Or do all of these look a little blue (search found mixed opinions)? Is there a clearance bulb that matches better, or will they all just be "close" because they're not Xenon?
Anyway, went back to the orange bulbs I'd originally used to replace the stock ones. They match the side marker lights, and look much better than stock - but still not as good as matching lights...grumble, grumble.
Hope the Extreme White H3s they also delivered look better!

The Xtreme Whites also look a little blue. But when viewed from a distance, they match pretty good. Looks nice though.
my opinion
I took out PIAA and put in Polarg xenon bulbs. Read and see the pictures....

I bought the PIAA LEDs for the clearance lights a while back (posted about it also) and yeh, they are really weak -- a pure waste of $$ if put in the clearance lights. I haven't switched them out yet though, just a warning to people considering buying the PIAA LEDs for the clearance lights.

Mine just arrived in the mail yesterday

I hate when I get something and then find out it's a bad idea...
I'm still going to install them. I have cheapo white LEDs in now and one died. They do look bluish, but if the PIAAs are the same just brighter (and don't die easily) I'll be satisfied...
they look good in clear sidemarkers but they are not bright at all in the clearance lights. Also, though the LED is pure white, the min you put em in the clearance lights, it looks bluish
I think it might be because of the lens? It really pis*ed me off too, I paid around $15 a pair
