Tires available for OEM wheels

I did a search, since I want to get new tires, and found that the only tires that fit(safely)on the OEM wheels for a 5th gen SE are...

The $hitty OEM tires BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE92
The overly expensive MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S
And the unattractive NITTO NT-450

Is this correct? Do we have any other options out there?

Re: Tires available for OEM wheels

I need some new ones as well. The tread on the bridgestones where down too quickly.

Falken ZE512 - Good looking tires, affordable and from comments on here, handle fairly well.

Good luck.

Falkens are another choice..>

There are a few members that seem to be happy with there Falkens and "yes" they come is the stock 225/50 sizes. They might be a "H" rated tire but not sure what your looking for other then price. If you get any tires from the link below shipping is included.

I personally think you should live a little and get wider tires. I've been running my 235/45 Dunlop SP5000s on my stock rims for over 15,000 miles without a problem. They were $540 shipped to my door. My wife's car also has a 17X7 factory rim. The car came with 215/50 tires but still opted for wider, so she also is riding on 235/45s.

Good luck....

How would you know how much tire pressure to put in if a wider tire is used on the OEM wheels?

Ex, 225/50R17 would use 32PSI
235/50R17 woud use ?

That's awesome, I love Dunlop SP5000s. Are these the asymetrics? I use those on my Talon TSi and love them. I was using Pirelli 7000 SS-s, those were actually a bit better at first than the dunlops, but as they wore they got noisey as all heck.

Does the tire tread curl at all from the narrow rim? Any wear problems?

Not if you keep your tires properly inflated. Search the tire threads for more info.

Same goes for you, nismotech. There's been a lot of discussion on proper tire pressure in this forum and there's no reason to repeat it all here.

"unattractive" ?

Reviews say nitto-nt450 is a good tire... as long as "unattractive" is in the mix I suspect you'll never be happy

Also available the Bridgestone RE040 - i think these are the front tires on the 350Z and are summer tires, and Goodyear Eagle RSA - all season.

Unlike you guys, I don't have time to sit in front of a computer all day, but if you want to be d**ks about a simple question go right ahead. I can't see why you can't just ignore the post if it upsets you so much. And by the way, jjisz, SEARCH this....

Real mature response there. If you had enough time to type this response you had enough time to SEARCH, plain and simple.

Grow up.

FAQs are FAQs because people frequently ask the same questions.

Everyone should refer to the FAQs to become familiar with questions that have been asked before by forum members. Anyone who has experienced the underwhelming "performance" of the Bridgestone RE92 should realize that others may have desired advice on a stock-size replacement tire and would have asked this question many times before.

Despite the existence of the FAQs, I believe the odds of this question reappearing within 2 weeks on this forum are 5:4.

Those are the tires that come OEM on Mitsubishi Eclipse GT & GTS's, ( I still own a Eclipse GT) they are far worse than the Bridgestones on the Maxima.

i dunno if i would put them quite as low as the 92s, however the RSA is a horrible tire for anything more than light rain ... bad tread life, bad water, and horrible snow traction.

and maxfanatic - i more time writing up the response (fyi - i did include my pick) then you would have searching for answers ...
