Re: Break-in Advice

I need some advice. I just got my new '03 se maxima last night and was wondering if any of you had any good advice for the break-in period. I was thinking about going out of town this weekend, about 3 hours away. Good idea or bad idea?

Thanks a lot for any advice you guys can give me! So far, it's got 22 miles and counting.

the general idea is to not drive at a constant speed or exceed 3k rpm for the first 1k miles. Believe it if you want, don't if you don't.... I followed that advice and nothing *bad* happened.

People will tell you "with the micro-finishing in the engine it really doesn't need to be broken in". You can belive that if you want, too. It's really up to you.

no, the VQ still requires a breakin. Toyota and Honda do not.

You are also breaking in the tranny. We dont have great success with trannys, so by all means, follow your owners manual guidelines.

hehehe, they dont need breakin cuz only grandmas or mature ladies drive those, hehehehe
for us, we have to make sure our eng/tranny are in perfectly ready-to-go condition b4 some serious tightass action
