Need help guys
Hey guys. I got a problem, and I dont know what to do. I am heading to go to Wick's here in Louisville to grab some supper Sat. Night, and It was raining and the road were wet. Well on my way. I hit the biggest pothole in the world. I couldnt see it in time. Well I hit it hard. I thought the car bottomed out. I mean it felt like it did when I was in a bad wreck. I was scared S**tless. I though there was tons of damage underneath. My hands were even shaking. My poor baby. WEll I get to wicks and inspect the car under some light. I looked underneath and it looked alright. But I noticed on the wheel there is buldge in the tire right above the rim in one spot. Well when I drive now I can hear a like a light womm womm wommm. i was wanting to know if the city (Louisville) is responsible for this or what. I need advice on what I should do about this. It appears to be only the front driver side door. Thanks guys!!

State has no liabilty
No way will you get money from the City/State.
About 7 years ago I hit a piece of concrete on the highway that was a result of excessive use of a two lane road by ovesized trucks (they were using it as a short cut to majopr highway where they were doing a road widening).
I lost control of my car and totalled it.
I contacted a lawyer and he said the State has no liability - you cannot sue the State for something like that. If you had died maybe your family could have gotten some money, but even those cases are pretty rare.
when they draft the lawas they are very careful to make sure they cannot sued.
If you have after market tires sometimes Discount Tire is pretty reasonable about those things. I have a co-worker who had a set of Pirellis do that after hitting a pothole at a Walmart - Discount Tire gave him a new tire no questions asked - he also sued Walmart and got equivalent to 4 new tires.
He went back to Discount Tire and replaced all 4 with Kuhmos and they gave him prorated trade-in on the Pirellis.
Good luck - get it fixed - you don't want to have blow-out at high speed.

States are all broke! I'd start pricing tires on www.tirerack.com and make your ride safe again. Do you have road hazard insurance on your tires?

Re: Need help guys
It will be very difficult to get money back from the city but you can always try.
The one bit of advice I can give is replace the tire since the inner wall has been compromised. The bulge is air pushing on the sidewall. It is very dangerous and can blow out. Just order a replacement and if you want, send the reciept in to the city.
Good Luck

? maybe in Texas. Some states do take responsibility for their poor roads.
take a picture of the pothole with a tape measure sticking out of it, or with your girlfriend standing in it...
if it so big she'll need a ladder to get in and out you should get the city to compensate. it's worth a shot.

I live in alaska and the roads are not that great up here. The same exact thing happened to me. I have bulge in my front left tire. I talked to the guy at tire rack and he said it should be fine for a while bit try to get new ones asap. I have been driving on this tire for about a month and it is still fine, no road noise or anything. The bulge is really small though. Im just going to wait until summer and buy all-season potenzas. The re950.
