Dealer horror story

My 2000 GLE started making this loud screaching noise when raising or lowereing the driver's window sometime last summer. After putting up with the noise for months because of apprehension of taking the car to the dealer, I finally took it in for warranty repairs. They replaced the glass run in the driver's door. I went to pick up the car and the first thing I noticed was black goo all over the door right above the door handle. Then I opened the door to find double sided tape on the door jam weather strip. When I closed the door it sounded like a door off an old rusted out pickup truck. All kinds of things rattling inside the door. Yes... this was from an authorized Nissan dealer! Of course they couldn't take care of anything at that time, because the "technicians" were aleady "wrapping up their days" at 3:30 in the afternoon! I ended up cleaning up the goo myself, then had to take it back in today. Turns out the mechanic didn't put the lower bolt back in the glass run. Seems it's hard to get to, so he apparently just left it out. Pretty sad, isn't it? Then today I noticed two large scratches under the door handle on the rear door! I ended up buffing out the scratches myself. I don't trust them at all. The dealership was Crown Nissan in St. Petersburg, FL. It's typical of my luck... I always park out in the boonies to avoid door dings and scratches and it's worked. My car doesn't have any dings at all and no scratches until today. From the idiots at the dealer no less! They could care less about customer's cars.

I hate to tell you this, but this issue is most likely the simple fix of spraying silicon lubricant on the windows and then wiping it down. This is what lots of dealers actually end up doing, and you can buy a can of the stuff at most Nissan dealers for $8.00 or so.

I'm sorry you went through this.

yeah, since almost all my 'wear and tear' has come from the dealer during service. It works, really holds their costs down. I shudder at the thought of needing anything fixed and prefer to fix things myself, even tho I bought a Nissan gold warranty. Its brilliant on their part.
