Rotten Egg smells
Rotten Egg smells
Tonight when I was coming back from class (the car has been parked outside for at least 3 hrs in MI temp) and I have noticed that everytime I step on the throttle, the car chock a little, and when I got home, I can smell the whole garage smell like rotten egg, I have searched the forum and notice that it could either be a O2 sensor gone bad cause the car to run rich or a clogged CAT. Now my qustion is that is the CAT covered under warrenty (read it somewhere that it is covered under some kind of Federal Law, my car now is 3 years old, have about 45,000 miles). Going to the dealer tomorrow just want to make sure they don't screw me over
any help is appreciated

Clogged Cat for sure and no warranty coverage as it is only covered if you failed an emissions test. One cause for this that I know of is using bad gas or low grade/octane fuel. Here in NM we can use 86 88 or 91 only so 91 is all I will use now.

Is this clogged CAT typical? I have only 1500 miles on my car and I just noticed last night the terrible rotten egg smell in my garage. What should I do? What exactly is a CAT? thanks guys
