Went to dealer today...now feel homicidal!
So I went to the local dealer here in SF about my poor gas milage, and in the 10 minutes I was there I accomplished nothing.
When I first told the service guy about the poor milage he says..."maybe your fuel tank is leaking." You motherphucker like i wouldnt notice a small thing like that!
So what they offer to do is give me the standard 2yr/30,000mi inspection and "maybe that will fix it." I say I guess so, is it covered by my warranty(I still have 3yr/36K). The guy laughs and says "nothing is covered by that, the inspection is $599"!!
So basically I ended up leaving accomplishing absolutely nohting and driving like an angry maniac.
Apparently they do not do diagnostics to determine problems with their cars...what can I do now?
I'm thinking of going to my usual mechanic and maybe getting some insight, so then when I can go back to another local Nissan dealer I can be more percise about the issue.

call Nissan North America (not that they will do anything) but let them know that the dealer is requesting $600 to do warranty work. If you have an emissions issue (or just about anything else, including a leaking tank :/), it would be covered. $600! thats highway robbery on so many levels.

Move On
I'm with TimW --
Call Nissan first, then go to a different dealer.
You may want to arm yourself with the following knowledge:
1) Dated receipts of Fuel Purchases with est. mileage notated between fills.
2) Driving style - commute situations
3) Fuel Type / Brand
4) Any recent work or service done to your car.
As I recall - you were getting rEALLY bad mileage...! Worse than everyone here....Right?!
What you got is b.s. from that dealer. Report them.

You may want to try a different dealership. I've had problems with certain dealerships that wouldn't cover problems under warranty. I just took my car to a different dealership and got it fixed with no hassle.
