Disabling the "HONK" out of the OE Keyless Entry
I recently had an aftermarket sound system installed in my '03 SE by a local installer, and while he was at it, I asked him if he could take out the "HONK" sound that the OE Keyless Entry system and replace it with a "CHIRP" like a civilized alarm system. He said it should be no problem, but when I went to pick up the car, he told me that he needs to find the schematics of the system in order to deactivate it. Well, I spoke to him today, and he's having problems finding the info. Can anyone help me with this? That honk just sound so stupid. . . do you know what I mean?

I don't think he's trying to disable the horn indicator completely. He's trying to switch the honk to a chirp like an aftermarket alarm.
What you can do is disable the honk like the manual says, then have your installer guy wire in a relay to the blinkers so that it activates a siren. That way when you lock the car from the remote the siren will "chirp" twice as the lights flash. The bonus is when you change lanes, you'll be chirping at everyone so they'll have both a visual and audible indicator that your turning or lane changing...

That would be SOOOOOOO frickin annoying. Sitting at a light with a blinker on to make a turn chirping like some freaking bird on steroids. Down here it could get you shot during hunting season.

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea about that. I should probably spend more time with the manual, huh? I'll do that for the time being until I can get the schematics. BTW, nice job on the '00 SE. I especially like the mods to the lights. They complement the white body color really well. How's the ride with those springs and the wheel/tire set up?
