My Aiwa CDC-MP3 arrived today! Anyway I've been reading a lot of reviews on this player and most of them state that its very important to get the strap on the back nice and secure otherwise it appears alot of people have problems with skipping. So my question is, is there somewhere built inside the dash to attach the strap to or will I have to Mickey Mouse it?

You should not need to backstrap your deck, the iso mount works extremely well in these cars. However if you want to, the best place to attach it to, is the air conditioner. Get a piece of that metal with all the holes in it and attach it between the two. But in my opinion you should be fine with the 4 screws directly attached to the deck. Good Luck!

Interesting. So has anyone who has installed an aftermarket head unit encountered ANY skipping problems?

NOPE, not the CD, or the DVD, and the Maxima does have an extreme angle. That might be why they are advising you to backstrap the deck, but it will probably not work. But I have never had any skipping problems.

What is a backstrap? How can an MP3 be installed into the car, doesn't it have to connect to the computer to record?
How do I need to connect to my Bose system?

The stereo itself reads and decodes mp3s that are burnt onto CDR/RWs. I'm replacing my head unit.

There is one type of mp3 player I've seen that might work in your car and it's an mp3 player that is shaped like a cassette tape and will actually play in a tape deck. I think it'd be a waste to buy something like that though.

As far as a backstrap. It is a metal STRAP that goes on the BACK of your stereo when you install it. It minimizes vibration to help keep CDs from skipping... etc.
