dealer installed "wood trim" kit.........now I feel suicidal

I bought a 03 SE last week and ordered the factory "wood trim" kit. This is the first time I've done anything cosmetic to any car I've ever owned. I thought the "wood trim" kit is supposed to REPLACE most or all of interior plastic pieces. It did not occur to me that they are simply "wood" look alike pieces glued to the existing plastic
So I paid ~$500 for something I don't really like
what can I do now??

I take it you have taken delivery of the car and it is not just 'on order', right?

OK, ok, I KNOW I am going to be accused of 'coming down' on someone again, but I DO have to ask this question:

You didn't check out what this was before you decided to purchase it??

In short, besides trying to remove it (I doubt the parts underneath will be in perfect condition after the use of adhesive and removing parts) and put a different kit on (perhaps one of the aluminum kits)...you can either just learn to like it or trade the car in.

I agree trying to remove will only expose the original plastic parts with glue all over them. This is gonna be a bad one. I think you can just learn to live with it. It cant be that bad.

Glue

It's not gonna be an easy and quick job, but i'm sure you can take the pieces off, and clean the glue off completely, if you use the right spray and give it time. and dont' give up. it sure can be done.
I'd try that, cause it sure beats the hell out of a suicide.

It's a Maxima, not a bimmer, we aren't exactly up to the "real wood pieces" level or anything. 500 bones is certainly a lot though, but think about it this way: A wood kit may cost 250 bucks, plus install. Real wood pieces may cost 1200 to buy and install. Take your time, rip it all off and forget you ever thought wood was cool

GLE

I'm assuming this is the same as the wood that comes standard on the GLE - it is not that bad - no it is not real wood and it is probably not worth $500, but removing it and trying to repair/cover up the end result is just going to cost you more money.

Had it come standard on your SE you would not have even known the price so I suspect your more disappointed in paying "extra" rather than the actual look.

I feel for you man, but maybe it will be a selling point some time in the future when you trade in your Max.

my wood pieces were about $500 and they are real wood. I love it. does yours look anything like mine does? If it does, i dont see why you would want to take it off. i think it looks pretty darn good. But i guess i see where you are coming from if you wanted molded.

my factory wood kit looks almost exactly like yours. not exact same pieces and location but 95% like yours. even the color is the same.
i am not disappointed in the quality of the pieces i am getting (they are fake wood but looks so damn real that you won't be able to tell), just the fact that they are glued on pieces, and not replacing the plastic trim like i was expecting.
someone mentioned doing more research before buying, yeah no $$$hit i am so at myself......
yeah i'll have to learn to like it
thanks for all the suggestions and comments.

Yeah I hate the wood interior aswell. It reminds me of those old station wagons that had the wood grain on the outside. I like the sportier look, so the wood just doesn't do it for me. I'm only 19, but I'm sure my dad would really like it. Man I would just keep the wood grain, or remove it and buy another silver dash kit to cover up the glue.

Yeah just like EYE 35 said. Just bend over cause you just got ****ed in the *** on that one. Haha j/k
