advanced timing is still present

I got my timing advanced about a week and a half ago so I went back to the shop to check to see if it stuck or not. Originally I was set to 18 BTDC and this morning it was set on 17BTDC. I am still happy with it since it cost 30 bucks. I unplugged the battery last night for about 10 hours to see if I could erase the timing just to know if it was possible. Anyways, just wanted to let you all know that it does stay programmed.

I was wondering who was gonna be the first

to experiment to see if indeed the memory would keep the settings after a long period of 'no power' to the ECU...
Thanks for braving this, great news...

What was the exact consult procedure used to do this? My dealer says it can't be done and hold it?

my dealer said it could be done but they would not do it because of warranty even though 17 is in spec. i went to a local nissan specific shop that bought the consult from nissan. they had no experience with it but did not mind experimenting. the local shop actually called nissan and they said it would not work without a programming card that they had not purchased yet. blubyu2k2 had his done then i went in a few days after. all you do is hook it up and point to the settings you want to change. i had my base idle bumped originally but set it too high and i lowered it a little this morning when i checked on the timing. check and see if there are any shops around you that have the consult 2 because in most cases the dealer either wont do it (stubborn) or they wont do it because they dont know how.
