Keyless entry fob.

Hi guys. I'm new to the forum. I just brought my 2000 max It didn't come with any the the keyless entry remote fobs. I brought one on ebay, went through the whole programming sequence and the fob still doesn't work. My question is does the remote have to be a specific fcc id or can you just use anyone. If it has to be a specific one were can I find the fcc id. Also, where is the secu located?

If the remote is compliant to the 5th gen remotes, it will work. Make sure it is for a 2000/2001. They were different in 99 and in 02 and will not work on the car. Check ebay if you need one, you can usually get it for about 10 bucks.

Anyone know a for-sure on the answer to this question?

The FCC ID on my fob is NHVWBU43. I haven't yet pulled the brain out to see if the id's match.

Dealer tested my remote for me, it's putting out a signal. Has a new battery. Remote programing procedure followed to the tee. Flashers blink, but no luck on getting the fob to operate the locks. The power locks work fine with the switch in the car, and with the key in the ignition. The alarm performs fine too. Just no fob.

TIA

welcome to the ORG. .... there is a thread dedicated to questions that are like this.. or just make your own thread asking for help... you will get flamed for bumping a nearly 6 year old thread...the answer u asked is in not only post 2 but reposted in post 3 lol...as to why it doesnt work.. no idea.. i would start with seeing if hitting the lock button makes the horn beep,.. also read the remote.. if u hold down the 2 buttons it changes in and out of silent mode..

Thanks for the welcome. It's a rough crowd over here. Other forums I'm on aren't quite so touchy as this one, but they all have their own unique personality. It's especially interesting that orgers are so quick to say search knowing that most all links in the archives are broken because of the site hack. Thanks again for the welcome, and for the tips.

I bumped the thread that came up when I searched, didn't notice the dates. The question I asked was specific to weather or not all 2K's for sure have the same FCC id's. I searched pretty hard on that question, and this thread was the closest to answering.

I pulled the control box on my AE this evening. Box says my ID is kbrastu10, which doesn't match the fob I got with my car. It is also different than the FCC id that other ae owners have posted (pretty sure) so that tells me that all 01 AE's do not have the same fcc id.

2000 MAXIMA keyfob ID

I am currently having the same problem. I bought a used 2000 MAX with no fobs. I bought 2 fobs on e-bay. Model 01A FCC ID KBRASTU10
I got to the hazard lights flashing after inserting the key 6X. I push the lock button on the remote and nothing happens. I have also heard that there is two style remotes for this year MAXIMA. How do I find out what style I need ?

I went through the whole procedure step by step. Yes, I did have the key in the ACC. position. The battery is new. It still does not work.
How do I find out if I need the other style remote ?

When I bought my 2000 Max (used), I didn't get a remote keyfob either. I went on line to various web sites and they all said that FCC ID NHVWBU43 was for the 2000. I paid $25 for a brand new one and it works fine. I never saw another FCC ID mentioned for the 2000. It came with a programming sheet that worked fine.

To program the remote(s) follow this procedure.

1. Unlock all doors and get in car.

2. Close and lock all doors with power door lock switch on driver's door.

3. Insert the ignition key and completely remove it at least 6 times
within 10 seconds. The hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will
then flash twice and all previous codes will be cleared.

4. Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.

5. Push any button on the new remote control key fob once. At this time,
the car learns the new ID code. The hazard warning lamps (both turn
signals) will then flash twice.

If you are programming just one remote, go to step 10.
If you need to activate additional remote controllers, continue with Step 6.

6. Manually unlock the driver's door only then lock again with door lock
****.

7. Push lock button on the additional remote controller once.

8. Hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will then flash twice and
additional remote is programmed.

9. For additional remotes, go back to step 6.

10. When done, open the driver's door to exit programming state.

NOTE: A maximum of 4 remotes can be programmed to any ONE car.
