How is max in snow when its lowered? handling?
i am planning on lowering my max soon and was just curious on how would it affect the ride now compared to when there is snow, with snow i assume the ride would be even worse when its lowered because the snow would be kind of like a ramp for the car being so low,
is it by any chance a better ride in the snow then stock shocks/springs
or do i have to be exretremally careful because the ride is gonna be a lot worse??
thank you for any info

I can't imagine lowering your car having any effect on it's snow handling, unless the snow is deep enough for the car to 'snowplow' its way through. Your tires are a far more important factor than anything else.

Sounds like tires to me. What do you have on the car now? My Pilot Sport A/S were adequate in the snow, but I put Pirelly snow tires on this year, and the car has been unstoppable, even with all the snow NJ has gotten this year.
Since the car is so powerful, it takes a light touch on the throttle to drive smoothly on snow, but if you keep the car at least a gear higher than you normally do, you should be ok. If you have an auto, try starting off in 2nd gear instead of 1st. Of course, none of this matters if your tires weren't designed for snow.

I drove my 99 Eclipse through 2 Maine winters. It was lowered 1.75 front and 1.5 rear. Never had a problem. Now i couldn't drive through a foot of snow but, if i was that bad i wasn't planning on going anywhere anyways. The car actually handled better and was more predictable in the snow than when it was stock.

I put 15in steel wheels on my car with brigestone blizzacks...the pittsburgh winters have been ruff this year...and i havn't gotten stuck or hit anything...car stays right one the road. And my car is lowered too...
this winter has been ****ty....
althougt...i got my bumper repainted and my hood repainted before winter because i hit a deer...and not it looks like the bumper and hood have been there since i have had the car...so many chips on my car is sucks a hugh ****.
but its all good....**** happens...do the CF hoods have a chipping problem...i was thinking about getting one of those.
Holla back
thanks

I'm curious that you put on 15" Blizzaks. What was the stock tire size of your Max? Mine is 17", I was planning on putting on 17" Blizzaks also - I didn't realize putting on a smaller tire size was an option. Are the smaller sizes better for snow tires?

Its better and cheaper to buy a set of steel rims and amount 15" snow tires for a few reasons.
a. price a 17" snow tire vs 15"
b. its winter, your car looks like hell anyway, so what if you
can't show off your rims.
c. salt eats aluminum rims
d. larger profile = more warning for breakaway traction
e. less hassle and $$$ mounting, unmounting tires twice a year, plus
any damages you may do to the lip of your rims or tires.
f. the urban assult look is cool for a few months!

Same here. I try not to drive in the snow but just in case Ive got my stock 16s with some beefy winter tires on.

When it comes to snow, the narrower the tire, the better. I put my snows on the stock 17" wheels, so I'm running the original tire size of 225. A 15" wheel will let you drop down to something like a 175 or 185 width tire.

I live in the Chicagoland area and use my 2002 SE as my daily driver. It's lowered and I haven't had any problems due to it being lowered. Frankly, if it snowed so much that my car couldn't plow its way through, I would take the day off!
Like everyone else has been saying, TIRES are probably more important in determining traction in snow--- that and common sense. If you drive like a maniac when there's snow, you probably deserve to end up in a ditch...
I'm always extra careful around snow-- I just think about all my mods and what they cost me!!
