Are you serious? You can fit a V8 in a 260 or 280, so you might want to check under the hood. Otherwise, you have much more power than a stock 260/280.

Geez, let me pull out my crystal ball and see......

Just go and find out, why does this question come up 3 times a day?!?!?! What is the deal, you won't race someone unless Maxima.org says you have a fair chance of winning?

yeah it's kind of like not asking a girl to dance due to the whole rejection thing...not No I am not into racing the guy on a federal installation I was just pretty annoyed by his riding in my backseat on the way to work today and wondered if he knew something I didn't. I am a previous 91 300ZX TT and know what those cars are capable of I just wasn't sure if their performance dated back that far. Jeez try to make conversation and get bombarded!!

some people perhaps dont know the capabilities of other cars and want a comparison. sometimes they just go about it the wrong way.

That being the case, they should limit themsleves to magazine racing or car-stat comparisons and not worry about it and not bother us unless they plan on finding out themselves. Crap, EVEN if we had a comprehensive listing of cars, capabilities, and timeslips IN BOLDFACE AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM....there would ALWAYS be this kind of thread around here. It just won't die.

exactly. i use motor trend and if i want to compare if there is a .5 or less to the 0-60 or 1/4 mile then i figure its a drivers race between my car and the car im looking at. im not like... hmm lets see if a camaro ss can hang with me.. thats just ignorant.

My buddy has a 82 280zx and that thing is a dog. The inline 6 in those bad boys only pushes about 150-160hp and even the turbo models don't even clear 200 hp. You'll have no problem with him.

Well, let's see:

1. My point is logical.
2. My point makes common sense.
3. My point is supported by others.
4. My point is presented in a way which demonstrates control of capitalization and grammar.
5. It is my freaking opinion and at least as valuable as yours, just presented in a much better fashion.

Yeah my point in the question was because I spent 5 years in Okinawa Japan and witnessed the 280s beat up on the fast sylvias and in some situations the Skyline GS-t (single turbo)I wasn't sure if the mods could be the same here as they were over there. And I wasn't looking for reassurance in if I raced him I was just thinking of the comparison (weight, torque, and HP) similar to the thread a while back regarding the Lincoln LS. Thanks for the responses though.

those early 80's/late 70's z have incrediblly light weight. don't just look at HP's, look at HP/pound for those cars, they are not that far behind in terms of HP/pound compared to yours . yeah for the non-turbo ones you shouldn't have too much to worry about. but watch out for the turbo z's
