What year of max should i get?

Hi, in one month i will be getting a 2003 SE max, but because the 6 speed is very limited nad hard to find i am probably going to get a automatic. Before i do that i was just curious about one thing. (and not to start another 2000 vs 2002 war) Stock to stock, is a 2001 5 speed SE quicker than a 2003 auto SE?? I have used the search, only to find info on modded 2001 5 speed going against stock 2003's

thx ahead of times guys.

A modded 2001 is not comparing the cars evenly. You can mod a 2003 as well. If I were you, I would hold out for a 2003 6SP. I'm sure that there is one available in the USA. You also get other benefits (ie: Xenon, heated seats, bigger tires, etc) that you might not or will not get on a 2001.

True, it is getting more and more difficult to find a 6 speed with alot of options but they are still some 6 speeds out there. You might have to travel a little bit to get one.

If you can find a 6spd with fewer options than you want remember that most aftermarket leather is better than the factory leather and the bose system sucks! Spend half as much and get a good aftermarket system installed @ your local stereo shop.

I'm sure just about every other option can be added afterwards for probably cheaper. Trust me, I opted for the auto instead of the 6spd because of good ole Atlanta traffic but I really miss the manual.

What Bobcat said is probably true, except for a sunroof. I would never go with an aftermarket sunroof. Several friends have done this and have had problems within a year down the road.

Good luck.
