1)What brand/model? PIAA SUPER WHITE PLATINUM SERIES 85W
2)How long have you been using them? 2 months(replaced them)
3)Any melting HOUSINGS? the glass lenses had numerous cracks
4)Is the wiring STOCK? YES
I ran them for a few months. I had to replace both fog light assembleys because of numerous cracks in the lenses. I went to the PIAA Xtreme White bulbs. I believe the 35 Watt one.

Thank you! I wasn't concerned about the harness melting, since I was going to upgrade it, but the housing apparently can't handle the heat. So, I'll have to get aftermarket fog lamps or just add a pair of driving lamps. Driving lamps could also be used with high beams, so that's a plus.
Now I just need some 9005 high wattage people to reply.

I have never done any type of modding before. That was my first "crack" at it..

On this, do you have plans on putting in a whole new housing in the stock spots, or add ADDITIONAL "light" to compliment the existing ones?

Either upgrade to the 85W bulbs(which doesn't look viable) or just add auxilary driving lights under the grille in the "mouth" area.
a33 has a setup like that.

Damn, I just switched my stock light bulbs to H3 and 9005 Xtreme White bulbs. They have very high wattage too! Should I be worried about them melting the housing? I think the fog light on mine has 110 Watts!!!

Some of the others come in 85W=150W and those will melt stuff.

Yeah, I only use PIAA light bulbs for my car. What other brands are we talking about here?

had 100 watt highs and 85 watt lows on my old car - worked out alright... lasted less than a year tho, then they burnt out. i'm happy with my HIDs and regular highs now. save my money for something more important, like the upcoming headers

I dont have a cardomain setup, plus I dont have any pics of my car. I got the H3's from Alex at swa if u want to know were I got em. I should note that I dont really do much night driving at all if ur wondering why I havnt had any problems. I usually have them on for no more then 15 min at a time a few nights a week. I have had them on as long as a hr though and no cracks, they do feel hot to me but no wires melted and everything is stock. If I dont sell my car and get a 2k3 later on this yr ill probably go for HID in the fogs.

Yes, there is a difference in short range visibility, because that's what fog lights do.... to help short range visibility. The PIAA Xtreme White H3 is a very good choice for your 5th gen fog lights. I'm just another satisfied PIAA customer.

I've got upgraded wiring for the 9005(high beams), so it's just the housing I'm concerned about melting. However, I don't think I use them long enough to really cause damage.
I think I'll just add driving lights once I figure out which ones work best.
