HID headlights on 2002-2003 maxima

Just was wondering if the HID Xenon headlights used on the maxima were different than ones used on other cars such as BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus. I have just noticed, especially with the BMW, that the headlights look more bluish. Does BWM use a better bulb?

It has a higher K rating balast. Like 6000k i think.

HID's are HID's. The difference is mostly int he bulb shape and color temp rating. BMW's use projector beams, as do some mercedes, lexus, audi, etc.....

The question I have about our HID's is why are they aimed so damned low?? I know its so as not to blind oncoming traffic but damn, they are aimed low.

I don't think it's that. As far as I know, pretty much all OEM HIDs are rated at 4100K, or something around there (in the 4K range). The only reason why Audi, BMW, some of the newer Mercedes, Porsche, and others have a bluish/purple look is because they are using projector lights, not regular bulbs with a reflective lens. As a result, as the light passes out of the projectors, it gets bent by it, causing prism-like effects, and that's why you see the different tints of blue/purple.

If you've ever had an Audi or BMW with these lights behind you, and seen them go over a speed bump or something, you'll see that if you look at their lights head-on, they are really white, and have no blue/purple to them.

DING DING, you are right...projector lights vs. reflective is the MAIN reason for the bluish purplish tint.

Yes ours are just as good,Acura and Nissan just have that blue while they are warming up. Shine wise they are just as good as the rest!

I think all HIDs go through the warm up process, and all are blue at first.
