Stock Muffler Tip -> Move Out?

I just put my Stillen body kit on and I have a factory muffler on my 2k1. The muffler has the chrome tip for the double exhaust pipes. I want to slide that tip out about 1.5" or 2.0" to sit more flush with the body kit. When I took off the little nut that held the tip in place, the tip would not slide out. Is it welded to the pipes? There doesnt seem to be another screw/nut holding it in place. I sprayed WD-40 all around the tip to maybe losen it from against the pipes but that didn't help. Do I just need to pull harder or is the tip attached somehow? Thanks.

I cut my exhaust tip off (it is welded) and put on 2.5" extensions. I bought them at Pep Boys

Its not welded on... and it comes off - I've done it before - You might have to take the muffler off the car to get at it though

Ok, thanks. It didn't look welded, just stuck. Good idea about taking the muffler off to get at it, I didn't think of that.

I think they were refering to the pipes. I would personally get extensions, I had the same exact problem when I threw the body kit on a few months ago. I just got another muffler, but will go back to OEM due to the exhaust being too damn deep.
