HID in a 01?

I was wondering if anyone knows if the HID lights out of an '02 or '03 would fit in a 2001 maxima. And if so what must come with the light, burner, casing, etc?

Re: HID in a 01?

The HIDs for the '02 and '03 Maxima will fit into the '00 and '01. However, rewiring needs to be done.

You can request a write-up from BigDogJonx. His webpage is at:

Or you can request a write-up from IceY2K1. His webpage is at:

Due to the HID theft problem with the Maxima, write-ups tend to be given out on a prove-you-purchased-the-HIDs-legitimately basis, so check with the people who did the write-ups for more info.

If that's too much trouble, have you thought of just replacing your existing headlight bulbs with Sylvania Silverstars? $50.00 or less for a pair to give a HID-like brightness. Just a thought.

Good luck. Peace.

i think the newer headlights themselves look better than the old ones. not just the fact that their brighter.

Not only will it cost an arm and a leg to get, you have to worry about getting them ripped off from low-life losers. Consider getting a Catz-HID kit or some equivalent (with a dual beam), which will cost around 500-600 dollars. Then you will have true HID's and I am sick of changing burned out bulbs all the time. I have to admit though that the 2002 headlamps look sweet and they are a perfect fit.
